Why not? Manager who's been at the club 26/27 years working closely with a Chief Exec who's been there 10 years, pretty much building all the systems within the club and single-handedly controlling spending, player purchases, support staff and coaching team.

Couple that with the fact that while Fergie was there, it worked, but once he went, it was an out of date style of running a big club, never going to work for the next guy in an ever-changing modern game.

Then add to that, the next guy comes in and decides he wants to put his own stamp on things and ruins any hope of a smooth transition by getting rid of all the existing backroom staff.

Having said that, it isn't an insurmountable task to rectify. A DoF, owners happy to continue spending, and a manager who can bring in players with potential who want to play for the club and build something together.

    This.

We have a system dependent on a single genius coach/manager/executive without the man being present. Even the most ignorant should have deduced that by now. Even Woodward and the GGs. For many years the club was kept afloat on the pitch by one man. Once he's gone it all fell apart like a pack of cards.

I wouldn't worry too much about which players come this summer. Weve had some of the top and expensive ones who have been pulling trees up for their Clubs. What happens when they arrive? They've all turned into flops. So we have an executive that turn some successful managers into flops. They in turn turn some of the best players into flops too. I called it the United curse a few years ago.

The club needs a top to bottom systematic review of the structure. Then we may have any hope of going up to challenge for the CL and the title. It will take a few years.

It's how long it will take to make the decision to do that in the first place. Not just a review of the structure, but the simple decision to bring in a DoF. It's the lack of decision making (before we can even get to the point of appointing someone) which is what's holding us back.

Didn't know where else to put this.

Premier League newcomers Sheffield United have signed former Manchester United midfielder Ravel Morrison on a one-year deal.

Morrison, 26, attended the Blades' pre-season training camp in Portugal earlier this month.

He played in Manchester United's 2011 FA Youth Cup-winning side with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard <---- hmmmm there seems to be a link here.

Morrison was rated as one of the best young players to come through the Manchester United academy during Sir Alex Ferguson's time as manager.

But his career has been hampered by various off-field problems and he made just three first-team appearances for United and 24 in four years with West Ham.

Lazio handed him a four-year contract in 2015 but loaned him out to QPR during the 2016-17 season and then in 2017-18 to Mexican side Atlas, where he scored four goals in 25 games.

He spent the early part of this year at Ostersunds FK in Sweden on a six-month deal.

If I could swap one of our PL trophies in exchange for this lad realising his potential at 18 years old with United, I would.

He’d probably be one of the best players in the world by now (and we’d have more than twenty). It just goes to show that talent is absolutely useless without application.

I hope he does well though, he won’t of course, but it’d be nice if he showed even for just one full season, what he’s capable of.

I don’t think I’ve been more gutted about anything in football more than when this lad went to ****.

It’s like having a brain like Einstein and going to Salford Uni to study Leisure and Tourism.

Imagine a dressing room of Pogba, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo? Each would need their own dressing-room.

Add to the vanity list - Ibrahimavic, Gallas, Ramos, Chiellini, Lehmann, Bendtner, Diouff (ex-Liverpool), Costa.
Plus the 3 above and there´s the perfect 11.
