I shall be attending the Heed this Tuesday evening (might get to see a better game - but then again) gotta get my footie fix somewhere
I wouldn't be too hopeful, oldest Son went against Southport and reckoned it was really dire. Hopefully there'll be an improvement Tuesday.
I hoped for a point and we almost got one.. the big games norwich away ... gotta win that game because were getting **** all at spurs .
I really thought we could have got something today, the Arsenal lineup was no great shakes. Shelvey going off changed the game for me, as we coping well enough with them, but SB changed the formation which seemed to cause confusion.
I think the new lad (Willems) was shell shocked by his first involvement of the game (resulting in the goal) his next touch was shocking letting the ball run out for a throw in etc and after that it seemed he didn't want to touch the ball at all
I can't help but think the failure of the boycott shows how much the culture has changed since Thatcher. Forty years ago the sense of collective solidarity in the NE was strong enough to bring the entire country to its knees. Now it's much more about individual decisions - people's freedom to choose to go or not if they want to, but a strong sense they shouldn't impose a collective will on each other, even over a football match. Trying not to say if that's better or worse, or support much one side or the other - I don't go often enough to have an opinion. I do think it's reflective of how life has changed though.
I'm not sure the boycott failed to be fair. Today would have been a sell out normally, so 5k down is still a sizeable number. My son boycotted, but a mate went with me instead. The reality is I didn't respect him not going to make his point. I dare say others did the same.
My estimation was in the region of 44,000. Lots of empty seats and official figs I believe include all season ticket holders whether they attended or not. More results like tody and watch it dwindle even more.
If weve lost 3 before watford home itll be horrible that atmosphere and these news lads will crumble more than likely.. Really big game now at norwich ... losing that with spurs away after it is a horriffic situation
They’re fans like you and I mate. No better no worse. I respect everyone’s decision. To either stay or go. I didn’t attend as I’m currently in Antalya drinking Efes. If I were at home I’d have probably had a mooch along as I pick and choose my games these days due to work.
Were ****ed All weve done is swap perez for saint max Swap rondon for joelinton Swap rafa for bruce Is willems better than ritchie at lb ? I doubt it Is krafth better than manq and yedlin ... hopefully but i doubt it . Carrol wont play pr move on dday Time will tell but we might even be worse
See me later post matey, I wasn't trying to upset anyone or abuse anyone. Maybe I should have stuck a smiley face next to it or something to make it look that way. The boycott was a failure though, and it always will be at this club. And stop showing off, I'm in Jarra drinking Stella and it's peeing down!
Weird one. The attendance was defo less than 47K. I looked around just before kick off and there quite a few empty pockets. The problem is that all clubs just include their season tickets as an attendance to bump up their numbers. What you would need is a massive drop off to expose this. Obviously in a ground like ours 10-15k spread over a few areas can be easily hidden. Whereas if 25K didn't turn up, you'd see that 47K as bullshit straight away. I reckon the attendance was more like 38-42K. Still way too high to be effective. It tells you those wanting to boycott are in a minority and therefore their efforts will be fruitless.
Exactly! Not to mention the fact that they'll be back for the next game....or as soon as we start to show some signs of improvement and winning games.
