Agreed - but the only time it makes news here is when it is a mass shooting. Those are usually carried out by some deranged (political or religious) lunatic and have the same root cause as terrorism world-wide. The gun is just the weapon of choice for such things in America as it is so freely available. However, the vast majority of shootings in the US are either gang crime related or just pure tragic family dramas. The gun is just too entrenched in the American psyche. Even if sweeping reforms were made it would take 4 or 5 generations for any semblance of a change of mindset to start growing. Add to that the sheer amount of weapons out there and you have an insurmountable problem. It will never change over there.

I hazard a guess all these scumbags who are carrying out these shooting mass murders are all habitual Marijuana users.

They are allowed to vote for Bernie Sanders. It is called democracy.
It is just that not enough of them vote for him to even be the Democrat candidate, let alone for the Presidency.

Unfortunately for the Left, there is no Left in American politics – the Republicans are the real Right and the Democrats are the centre Right. Most people that went to America went there to be free to succeed or fail by their own aspiration, which does not fit in with Left-thinking politics where only a few issues resonate such as healthcare provision.

Having Sanders as President would not result in gun control. Big business runs America and the gun lobby has enough Congressmen of all persuasions in its pocket to stay in business.

I recently had this debate with a couple of American visitors. They quoted the second amendment. Says it all really. A 230 year old law vs a modern day problem.

Now it's bullet proof, school backpacks. How sad is it when a society feels the need buy such things?

Some gun owing, second amendment supporter demands the right to bear arms while packing his child off to school with a bullet resistant back pack for protection.

    Bizarre.

At the very least not deterred by the language Trump uses. He has blood on his hands imo.

It has always seemed strange to me that modern day Americans seem to view their Constitution as cast in stone. The 2nd Amendment is indeed what the second part of it implies – a change to the original wording. The first ten amendments were enacted at the same time and are known collectively as the Bill Of Rights.

I remember when Alaska governor Sarah Palin was the Republican nominee for Vice President and comedians would regularly joke about “the right to arm bears” to give them a chance against her and her husband out hunting. <laugh>

The last ‘new’ Amendment was ratified in 1971. Famously the 18th Amendment (‘Prohibition’) was subsequently repealed by the 21st fourteen years later, so change does not have to take decades.

VAR couldn't save the Hornets? Another scandalously bad VAR decision in the Leics/Wolves game. Get rid of this ****e.

We were told that VAR was only going to be used for decision that were called wrong, or miss called, NOT to take a look at each and every decision that goes on in a game of football...!! There are a load of my mates who were not impressed with how it is being used when you can call a bloke off side because his right shoulder is 1inch on the wrong side of a perfectly drawn line...!!! MADNESS...

We have that problem in Australia with Rugby League. It's as if the refs fear making mistakes, which is fair enough I suppose. Before these replays were introduced there was no end of **** flying about the place over shocking decisions. That's why we now have the replays. Personally, I don't find it too much of a bother. Especially when one goes our way. The wife isn't too happy when I let rip with a. "Thank **** for that." <laugh>

VAR is going to be no less controversial than original referring decisions. Some guy watches an incident from ten different camera angles and still gets it wrong – just the same as most other sports that use video replay. When there is latitude for interpretation, officials are going to interpret wrong just as often as the guy with the whistle who only got to see it once.

I should have made Sterling my fantasy team captain. If Sergio Agüero had not come off the bench, it would have doubled my points. :emoticon-0145-shake

Just wait til it hits Scotland, we have a team heading for 9 league titles in a row (won't get there though) who remain with a club crest stating "always cheated never defeated" even VAR will be "against" them

  20. Yeah it's the same in rugby union. They don't really make decisions any more any more - they put everything to the video so games last nearly two hours. Interestingly the acknowledged best ref in Europe and possibly beyond uses it less than anyone else. Shows his class but he is relatively old school. Once the younger generation come in the game is ****ed as they'll all go straight upstairs. Who can really blame them?
