To be clear that goal was not disallowed by VAR, VAR simply confirmed assistant referee got the offside right
Everything gets VAR'd, all the time. The linesman made the right call and VAR didn't need to interfere because he got it right.
If VAR is used, it's a good idea to flash up that it agrees with the lino/ref....saves people having doubt and believing that VAR should have been consulted.
In fact we not only had to waste time waiting for the decision, everything after the lino’s flag went up was a waste of time.
Oh, I assumed it went on the screen immediately because there was no point in interfering....not that it was consulted.
The linesman's flag went up before the ball was squared across for the tap in. Surely in that situation the point the flag goes up is the point the move is over.....otherwise you'd be advised to ignore a flag going up and play until the ball is in the net.... just in case.....
No, they have changed things since the Women’s World Cup. Now the linesman does put his flag up if he sees offside, but the ref ignores it until a goal is scored or otherwise, and they then check VAR.
