I think that you will probably find it quite difficult to find one of our fans who is downhearted by last nights game. Had we conceded another goal or more importantly not scored then we certainly would have been. Our shots on goal exceeded every other team an Anfield last season. Against lower teams more of those will go in and it's those teams we need to beat not the top six,
It was men against boys. It's been rare that Liverpool have been out of sight by half time and it's rare that they take the foot off the pedal the way they did second half, having said that they usually swap out midfielders second half to give them momentum but big hitters like Shaqiri and Keita couldn't get on the pitch because of Mane being rested and the injury to the keeper. Norwich have a couple of decent attacking players but on the evidence of last night there are not many sides that won't have a field day going forward. Maybe it sums up the age-old Norwich mentality that you're content with that performance. As James Norwood put it so expertly, "Enjoy all the new grounds and make sure you take some pics for memories."
I'm blue through and through but lets keep a perspective on this, they played the European Champions in front of over 53000 crowd in their first game of the season, we played Burton Albion in front of just over 4500 and 1800 of those were our fans, I know where I would rather have been travelling to.
If Norwich play like they did last night and Town regularly beat the better sides like Burton in our division then we’ll both be back in the Championship next season. Norwich have always seemed content with top flight tourism. I’m far from happy with our situation and current owner but I wouldn’t be all that crazy about how their club is run either. The hope would be that our plight is temporary.
Well at least we are above West Ham. No doubt the pundits will say that was a brilliant Performance by the Moneymen and they weren't thrashed.
The sign of a really decent team is the strength on the bench but sadly in our case we are completely bereft both on the pitch and on the bench!
Before you even get to the bench: I think we probably made a mistake in letting our goalkeepers go. I think we have a decent back four but it would have been stronger with Knudsen. Midfield we are okay but lack width. Up front we need another 2-3 options. These are all issues of our own making and not issues that required pouring millions upon millions into the club.
