I’ve just never been able to see any sort of attraction in it Nass. Jockeys from around the world and „the girls“ riding handicappers over various distances. Dull with a Capital D.

Off to Haydock so will miss the extravaganza that is the Shergar Cup at Ascot for a more sedate 7 race card day a lot nearer to home... If the rain keeps going hard like it is at the moment then wellies and rainproof tops will be the order for tomorrow...

Also, it will definitely have soft in the going...<ok> <cheers>

Yeah I agree. They seem to put the money in the pot so it’s a good day for owners I’d say.

absolute dross , owners are paid to lend their horses , that’s all you need to know about the competitive angle , the only straw to clutch at tommorow is the prospect of heavy ground , making selections a tad easier if you’re bothering , personally i stay well clear of this and arab racing <laugh>

One horse for me today, 3.30 Haydock WISSAHICKON 5/1. Fav will be hard to beat but I think this one wins. Frankie's only ride there too.

Kevin Ryan's stable is in cracking form at the moment. I like the chances of his 2 at Haydock today..

Question for the forum. Do R4s apply for reserves in the Shergar Cup today? As in, if they don’t run is a R4 applied to the race?

Not that I’m betting on the meeting, but something I’d not thought of before.

Surely not? A reserve is not part of the original field so if it doesn't run it should be irrelevant (I would have thought).

Infuriatingly, the Sporting Life lists the reserves as runners - so in the 1.05 it is showing 12 runners:

However, switching to the much higher quality Racing Post website reveals the truth:

    Shoddy Sporting Life. Just shoddy.

Surely Addeybb wins in this ground, though the price reflects it.

Off to Haydock today so here's my initial picks for the card...

    1:25 - Ginger Fox @ 7/2, La Voix Magique @
    1:55 - Mayfair Spirit @ 6/1, Mount Ararat @ 12/1
    2:30 - Miss O'Connor 13/8
    3:05 - Addeybb @ eve
    3:40 - Came From The Dark @ 7/2, Fantasy Keeper @ 9/2
    4:15 - Bahuta Acha @ 3/1, Red Stripes @ 8/1
    4:45 - Jonah Jones @ 5/1, Kapona @ 5/1

Always find it hard to be 100% confident at Haydock when the ground goes worse than soft, and it may well do today as it's been chucking it down round here for days now, and we know how bottomless Haydock can get... Plus it always throws up some right ole outsiders as the good ground horses can really struggle to get going... Hopefully the rain will hold back, it's peeing it down now, and fingers crossed for all of the runners staying in...

Good luck to all if your playing today...<cheers><ok>
