Ell, I think it's naive to think we jumped at the first offer.

Do you really think a management team with such a reputation (with some) for being money-grabbing barstewards would not have hawked him everywhere, home & abroad. And if his agent didn't do the same, Pontus should fire him.

And how many transfers, especially with unusually low fees, get hijacked at the last minute (e.g. Pearce)? A bargain is a bargain, but not one club thought he was bargain enough!

Bottom line is that some story or stories, true or false, must have been circulating the clubs, making them reluctant to take him on.

Not one loan offer and only 1 buy offer. Even our crap ex-players did better than that.

 

And to end up at Brentford of all places the footballing equivalent of being sent to the naughty step

 

Trust me, this boy will score goals. He won’t go in straight away as Bielsa keeps loyal to a winning team and bamford scored (he tends to go on streaks, so good). But Nketiah is far more a Bielsa type forward than bamford.

 

It’s not really even a real part of London.

Weren’t some complaining we kept getting players for the U23s “ones for the future” and not concentrating on the here and now. Do that and the club still can’t win.

I know absolutely nothing about him to be honest so can’t comment on how good he might have been if signed.

 

What we’re essentially doing is renting a swanky penthouse apartment (Nketiah) for a year for £3m which we could never afford to buy even if it did come up for sale, instead of buying a 4 bed detached (Colidio) for £5m which we would own, improve, increase its value, a real asset.

 

Which also might then fall into disrepair, that we have to keep spending money on to keep it habitable and find we’re struggling to sell it a couple of years down the line, who knows?

 

Not with Bielsa as it’s owner it wouldn’t. He maintains and improves his properties
