Heard we tabled an enhanced bid for McKenna at lunch time, which got knocked back. Apparently they want £5M up front, plus add-ons leading to a total about £8M - a bit too tasty for our pocket....
I think that's a bit harsh on Luongo. I'd offer a more balanced assessment.... Underachiever, maybe: I always thought that he was a good player but thought he could do more. We certainly seemed to miss him when he was out of the side and looked a better team when he was back in it. He could certainly tackle but he rarely beat a man and scored too few goals. Also, I cannot recall any defence splitting passes but he was a worker and generally closed down the opposition well. I wanted him to influence the game more than he appeared to do. In my opinion, he is yet another good player in a long list who didn't develop under our coaches. I'm a bit sorry to see him go but I think we've had our time together and it was time for him to move on.
Only a fiver... Queens Park Rangers are the favourites to sign £5 Burnley flop Nahki Wells, according to Sky Sports, despite interest from Middlesbrough, Birmingham, West Brom and Bristol City. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/08/08/do-report-qpr-favourites-to-sign-5m-burnley-man-nahki-wells/ Top business for that price
Wells... he's a decent player and adds more than just a standard striker role. But it's not a top signing. With that said, let's see what Warburton can get out of him.
So we’ve spent a grand total of £50k and brought in 14 new players (give or take?) And still brought in somewhere probably around £7 mil from sales. On the evidence of the Stoke game, I’m more than ok with this, especially if it clears us of any further FFP action.
probably our most productive transfer window ever. Happy that MW was given the opportunity to do this so fingers crossed we can progress up the table
Getting Wells back is good news in my opinion. Looked quality at the start of last season, but seemed to lose confidence as it went on. Let's hope Warbles can get him back to that early form.
Without the goals Wells chipped in last season we would have gone down. Sure he missed a fair few chances and should never be allowed near a penalty again but he still put a shift til the end unlike Hemed. We want players who want to play for us and he clearly does despite having other offers.
Decent transfer window Let the team settle down We seem to have options everywhere Just hope youth doesn't play itself out of the team and we struggle to find one half decent keeper Sure we will find a few duds from our basement purchases
