I think what will always stand out about Austin in my mind isn't the header, but him almost single-handedly wasting 3-4 minutes off the clock to assure us of... a draw. Against Bournemouth. For 16th place. That kind of encapsulates his time at Saints for me. He didn't really do anything wrong. In fact, he did something good, and unselfish, yet the whole thing ended up being sort of disappointing anyway. I'm not ITK,so I don't know and can't judge what happened behind the scenes but if Austin had to go because of those reasons, fine. I won't argue about that. But at least on the surface, jettisoning Austin should not have been a priority. So it still means we have a lot of work to do.
The re-shaping was always going to be over a couple of Windows. No doubt a couple more will go to Europe between now and end of the month. I hoped we would sign a CB, but looks like into the next window for that now.
Why are people wanting to move Lemina so badly? Did he do something bad? I still feel like he could be an incredible player if he can stay healthy and motivated. Granted both of those things appear to be issues but at least the potential is there. And even if he just stays as he is, he's still useful. I'm not saying he has to stay, I'm just saying if we don't end up moving him I'll be fine with that.
A new season you say?! Then it's about time I reminded everybody that... I hate Pompey and I hate Pompey, I hate Pompey and I hate Pompey, I hate Pompey and I hate Pompey, I am a Pompey hater. Wahaaaay! Let the good times role!!
True. We have to keep our expectations realistic. We weren't going to turn everything around in one summer. But IMO, this has still been a ****ty window. Maybe not disastrously bad if at least one of our attack signings pans out, but I still feel like they could and should have done better. Started off promising, then went fizzled out disappointingly.
