The fact that he has 20 for crossing, passing, technique and bravery and 17 for marking does make it look like he's been edited. These are stats which strikers basically never have, and pretty much don't need. I'd trade all of those 20s for like 16 or 17 pace and acceleration, as he will be let down by the fact he's a bit slow.

Also he has all the attributes of a target man, but is only 5ft10. Fantastic technical player, but generally a bit awkward in whatever role you would use him.

Does height actually make a difference in the game or is it all about jumping?

I heard that Jumping is more important than Heading...

The heading attribute is just about the technique of a header, so basically directing a header. It probably doesn't factor in actually winning a ball in the air. For winning a ball in the air, it would be determined by positioning and anticipation in order for the player to be in the right place, and then jumping and height will be the main factors in determining whether he or his marker wins the ball. A 5ft10 striker is always likely to be beaten in the air by most centre-backs, as in real life. Therefore a lot of this guy's attributes as a target man will be wasted most of the time.

I'm thinking about buying a new laptop + FM12 (first ever time on FM).

How easy is it to get used to? I've only played some weird Championhio manager thingy back in 99, so have little exp.

It'll seem daunting at first, but it's more because of the volume of features rather than the difficulty of using them. Just stick out the first couple of annoying attempts, once you get into it there's no going back. If you're lucky you might end up going all the way to 2026 like I did in FM10 <laugh>

    Definitely get it <ok>

I'm in 2030 on the save I'm currently playing. Started unemployed and now managing Man Utd and England. It's so addictive.

I guess if I saw someone post him I'd think he was edited. But truth is, he wasn't. I can't believe my scouts didn't pick him up earlier though!

He was quite an awkward player. I ended up retraining him as an AMC and it seemed to work out.

Another unemployment challenge. I've found it's the most rewarding way to play the game. Trying bring former glory back to Deportivo is a massive challenge as well and also seemingly impossible. They'll be in the second division now as well.

I have a huge decision to make now that this is being released soon: when I bought FM2010 it basically destroyed my PC - it's just not powerful enough. I decided that I wouldn't buy another FM game until I upgraded my computer, but the issue is that my computer is just fine for everything else I need it for. If I want to get the new FM it means I need a new PC, and...well, that's a big investment.

In the meantime and just for kicks, here's my favorite newgen I ever had, with the screenshot taken in 2019 (it was 2021 last time I pulled up the game):

His stats are pretty good but not as good as others I've seen in this thread and elsewhere online. The thing is... he scored 70+ goals in all competitions in 2019/2020 and has won various player of the year-type trophies for 3-5 years in a row. And he's not going anywhere because the fans think "I get the best out of Winters" which means he loves me and loves SFC. Plus it helps that we're the biggest club in the world anyway.

    :)

How good does a laptop have to be to run FM12?

Erm, not very. FM11 had these specs and I assume 12 will be the same -

    Processor - XP : 1.4GHz or Faster, Vista/W7 : 2.0GHz or Faster
Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon
    Memory - XP : 512MB RAM, Vista/W7 : 1.0GB RAM
    Hard Drive Space - 2GB
    DVD-Drive - 4x Speed
    Video Card - 128MB
Supported Chipsets - Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 or greater; Intel 82915G/82910GL or greater. Earlier cards may only display 2D Match Viewer Mode and are not supported. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible
    DirectX - Version 9.0c (included)

If it's a new laptop you won't have a problem at all.
