Agreed. Don't see the logic in this although he hits the net more often than Madine. If he is coming I hope we've paid no more than 2 satsumas and an apple.
You really do have to look hard at Warnock’s forward signings. Off the top of my head he’s signed Madine, Ward, Niasse (loan) & Bogle all of whom have been underwhelming and in some instances injury prone. Add in Reid and it makes it even worse. The jury of course is out on Glatzel but he hasn’t got to do much to improve on the above list.
I suppose NML has been okay but he is a winger rather than a striker. Although he has scored more for us than that lot put together (excluding Reid).
One out?............... https://www.footballinsider247.com/...lks-with-hearts-as-warnock-green-lights-exit/
There s a possible catch though. If Hearts sign Glenn Whelan then they won't want Damour. However he could still go to Europe as the European window ends after ours. Why? This gives the Europeans an advantage over Prem and EFL clubs. This must be sorted for 20/21. Level playing fields and all that.
This has raised its' head again - but I didn't think he was a winger. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-cardiff-confident-of-completing-deal-for-ligue-1-winger
Cardiff City fans' favourite Bobby Reid linked with shock deadline day exit #Bluebirds please log in to view this image
Here’s the latest rumours https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...cardiff-city-forward-linked-deadline-16717872 It would be a major shock if Reid left.
For me, that would undo a lot of the good work done in this window. I think he could be a key player for us this season.
Playing devil's advocate here, firstly not sure how true the Reid story is - it came from the Sun after all ffs - but is he all that? One good season with the Wurzels but if my memory is correct he scored most of his goals in the first half of the season when Bristol were on the up. Then his goals dried up as their form deteriorated. While I will not criticise his effort I feel games quite often pass him by. He is not physically big or strong enough to impose himself or change things, he is nippy over 5 yards but struggles to sustain pace over longer distances. He can take people on but again struggles to get away once beaten his man. Clearly his lack of height means he does not win much in the air. He has a good football brain which helps him overcome some of the above points, just not often enough for me. I felt we overpaid for him last year and if the Wurzels want him back (their fans are not 100% in favour) then they will try to get him either on the cheap (£4/5m maybe) or even a season long loan. Perhaps we need to offload him to fund other purchases. Perhaps he hasn't settled and has got his agent to indirectly start a rumour so he doesn't alienate himself with us if he stays. I don't know. I have no problem with him staying. He had one good year in this league with the Wurzels and it would be great if he can do it again with us. The next 8 hours will be interesting.
I've always said I like Reid and I think he can do a good job for us - but only in the right setup. He has awareness and can poach in the box, but we have to get the ball in there quickly from midfield and that's our (and his) big problem. If we're going to play the same sort of "power" stuff under Warnock as we've been doing this past 3 seasons, he might as well go - but I'll be sorry.
