https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/luke-g...re-as-good-as-it-gets-in-league-one-1-6201077 I dont know much about them to be honest, but youd expect them to be there or there abouts come May.
So he's scored one goal in a 1-0 win and they are the best side in the league? **** man - I'd have that on the wall in the dressing room me!! "Here lads, look what this prick is spouting"
Having read his statement he's only saying what most players from teams in the top 10 would be saying about themselves. No issues.
Chill your beans mate.. Nowhere in the article does it say that "we are the best team in the league". Yes we are one of the biggest teams and we will be strong candidates to get out of this hell hole division at the first time of asking. We aren't complacent though and we respect all of the teams in this league. Given your past record at Portman Road I don't think you will get anything on Saturday,
Sadly I'm not going as I'm gigging up here on the night - but I've only ever seen SAFC win at Portman Road!! Obviously haven't seen us there in a while. There was no dig at Ipswich fnas or the club, just this "we have the best squad in the league" seems very complacent to me - particularly after a struggling scrappy win against Burton. I like your lot and used to work in and around the area so went to a lot of Ipswich games (always took in the local footy if I could when I used to work away) got some very good friends down there too. Good luck for the season - just not for Saturday!!
No worries mate but you would expect our local rag to big up our chances. I wish all the Mackems coming down to Suffolk for the game a safe and pleasant journey as it's a hell of a long way!
Just going slightly off piste here but as we both have one thing in common being Mick McCarthy what do you guys think of him? We hated his brand of anti-football here even though it proved effective in keeping us in the Championship but god it was turgid to watch, Most Town fans were glad to see the back of him by the end.
Was very hard to judge him here mate, was a torrid time for the club before we had any money and he had no chance. He left with our blessing but we certainly never fancied him back when circumstances improved. Football wasn’t bad in the Championship but we got ripped apart in the PL, basically.
Funny thing mate. Despite his protestations, he was openly accepted and a lot of people’s pick when he got the job. He did very well, built one of the better sides we’ve had and had us on the verge of being more than decent, then we had a bad run and he resorted to desperately defending 1-0 leads and alienated a few players. He was fired as he couldn’t find a way to halt the slide, not because of his roots. He was very nearly a very good gaffer for us in reality.
Fook me I just remembered another connection we have in the Dark Lord Roy Keane! I know he got you guys promoted but we remember him for different reasons!
