Why is the optimism gone becauae of a Lack of a CB signing.

    I'm buzzing for this season!!!

We were always gonna be under it with regards to getting players out and wages down.

Probably because the ome signing we needed above all others was a CB.

I'm still optimistic that think Adams and Djenepo are great signings but I get why others may not be expecting all that much

We.have had RH and a full pre season, we are going to concede but do are plenty of other teams.

It's the philosophy and tactics that will win us games, Also I still think we will sign a CB.

Watch put for a TA type signing. ;)

A loan signing from a big club abroad, that ends up signing for another PL club?

This has the aroma of a certain Romanian CB who played about 5 games for us.

I can't quite stomach the idea that selling Lemina and bringing in a 27 year old 1.5mill CDM is progress.

Generally, my measuring stick for transfers is "would Sunderland have made this deal a few years ago?" In other words, is it a transfer that seems cheap at the time, but results in that player stuck on your books while you look for a replacement almost immediately?

We have made some very Sunderland transfers in recent years. This seems like it would be the most Sunderland transfer.

This is a terrible idea. Lemina wont be guaranteed games with the quality at Wolves. His record with us is pretty poor for 'injury' so I'd expect to see nothing for us at the end of his loan.

That seems to just be twitter hearsay so wouldn't read too much into it.

If it is true then I guess it is us accepting that a season loan is better than paying him to do **** all for a year

I wouldn't be keen on us selling him for £20m with no strings attached. So I'm certainly not keen on us loaning him out for £1m, with then string attached to sell him for another £19m on top.

£25m is my base (and it's an exceptionally reluctant base - he is worth so much more in more view), and I'd only be open to a loan deal if it comes with an obligation to buy.

I'd be tempted to sell right now for £15m. Yes he is probably worth more but it means we can get rid of his wages and reinvest that money right away. He will probably never play another game for us so if he were to stay and sulk he would be costing us about £2.5m a season anyway.

Consider that our form in the last ten games was top ten. That was despite a team that many people on here seemed to think was utterly, totally, beyond belief abysmal. That terrible team (that displayed top ten form) has been strengthened by the arrival of a striker who looks from preseason to be on the money and the return of a midfielder whom I'm certain will shine under a decent manager, plus a winger of unknown quality. All of them have been added to a team that displayed top ten form under the current manager and that has had a full preseason under him. I know your business is being miserable but I see no reason for a lack of optimism.

£2.5m per season in wages only. Add in the depreciation on his market value for sale as the contract runs down, and it’s considerably more.

According to Alex Crook on talkSport the Wolves connection isn’t as strong as we are lead to believe

This is hugely disappointing. No way are wolves a bigger or better club than Saints are, so for him want to leave for a club only at the same level as us shows it was just about money. He could have easily knuckled down and achieved at saints anything that he would at Wolves. Quite conceivable that we could finish above them. Don't get why this player didn't try and make the most at saints..

The same Alex Crook who said there was nothing in the Charlie Austin rumours about an hour before we announced him?
