I’m convinced we’re skint. Or certainly we become skint when transfers are involved.
We have haggled all summer over a few million for Lo Celso and Sessegnon.

Apparently £80m for Coutinho on a permanent basis, think that was SSN, make of that what you will. Would buying Coutinho and Sess but selling Eriksen make for a good window? At least we’d be getting a few for Eriksen and a PL proven player in return but it would be better to get such business done earlier!!

 

Yeah, I agree, it would be better. Not by any means perfect, but certainly better having a proven PL player.

Can those who keep prattling on about Leandro Damiao pleas point to the moment in time where, having failed to sign him, he went on to prove to be a world-beater at another club?

Was it the 129 minutes of football he had at Betis?
Was it scoring against the Chavs a few weeks ago in a pre-season friendly?

Stop putting him on a pedestal. We ended up dodging a bullet there, and let's not forget the main reason we dodged that bullet was Internacional deciding to increase the transfer fee after we'd already agreed upon a fee as they wanted a transfer auction even though the rest of world football apparently didn't

I'd say that description more closely fits Comolli's insistence that he didn't piss away cast amounts of money on players who Jol didn't ask for...

I imagine Levy-baiting (where they string him along for the whole transfer window just for fun) amongst chairmen from other clubs has become something of a sport in itself. The winner is who can haggle with him the longest without actually selling him anyone.

It’s not the point mate. His name is constantly used an example because, before we had the benefit of hindsight, he was the player we spent so much time “trying” to get, but we failed with.
