We can complain about the amount of midfielders all we want but the number isn't the issue for me, it's the type of midfielder. None of them are dynamic at all and help us move the ball quickly up the field. If this guy is that kind of player then I'm all for it.
Who Who would you move on to accomodate him then, because having 8 first team central midfielders is a p!sstake and it would show how badly organised behind the scenes we are. Ill never know why we signed Leadbitter. We did not need him in Jan and we still do not need him now. He is now nailed on to start every game now he's captain.
I guess it's all dependent on the formation too. For what it's worth though assuming he is this athletic/dynamic box to box midfielder I would play a combination of a box to box, playmaker & attacking mid. B2B - this guy (or new signing). Out of the rest does Dobson fit this role (haven't seen much of him) does O9 fit into this too? Playmaker - collects ball from defence, links play, McGeouch seems the only one capable, Power? Robson? Attacking mid - in front of the two above, Embleton only? I agree on Grant btw, genuinely not sure where he fits in anymore.
I hope not! I'm hoping it's the "club" captain rather than team captain which seemingly is the way clubs go nowadays. Has the armband when he plays but isn't a guaranteed starter. Thought McGeouch had a decent second half on Saturday - moved the ball well. But that said, our CM pairing didn't handle the wingbacks well (i.e. if you're a DM then you slot in to cover when a wingback becomes a winger - at least that's how I was taught it should work when I did my FA level 1 and 2 coaching badges) Screamed that that wasn't happening first half on Saturday when Hume was left with one lad running straight at him in 20 yards of space and another on the wing in even more space - he hedged his bets and tried to stay in a position which allowed him to get close to whichever got the ball - he needed help! (That said, Will Grigg watched the lad run past him into acres of space and stood with his arms folded!!)
its an easy choice big strong powerful lad, get him and release a couple who we don't need,If Ross has the balls he will transfer out those that don't fit in too well to the system he wants to play ,and get more in who will fit that system, as he stated before the window closes in Sept there will be a lot of champion ship and prem players looking for clubs, one in one out suits me as a hole we need tall speed merchants who are physically strong, something we lack at the moment.
on another point i can see a few leaving in the next transfer window if they don't improve, Such as Grigg Wyke Loovens Baldwin Power Gooch there is a lot of better options out there,We need to get out of this league and move on up,
Judging by the way he made Honeyman captain then unceremoniously sold him I don't think there's any sentimentality in his decisions on transfers.
Could be but I don't see it as evidence of that, just that everyone's for sale. I've always got the impression that there's good communication between Ross and Donald.
we certainly need players in, after saturday's performance and a 6'3" player will be ideal, we lack the physical side of this division, they should be shoving/bussling each other in training, i should go down them and give them a session in fact, i mean Jack is a Scot they take no crap do they.
If hes available for free why have we waited till now to get him, when he could have joined in pre season with the rest of the lads? With the addition of Dobson, Robson, Embleton and ONien not being needed at RB anymore Ross still doesnt know what our strongest starting midfield is. 5 pre season games was not enough for us with the amount of midfielders we have battling for 2 or 3 starting spots. By adding an 8th midfielder, It seems to me like Jack or whoever controls transfers is beginning to panic abit.
I dont think bumming them in the changing room will help much. Im sure Jack would appreciate your offer anyway.
