A week before the new season starts and Bury only have 4 registered players. Notts County, preparing for life outside the league, don’t have any kit. They loaned Juventus kit in 1903 and have asked for the favour to be returned. Bolton Wanderers start the new season with a 12 point deduction after going into administration. Oldham Athletic, Macclesfield, Oxford United, Reading, Southend and Morecambe all paid their players late last season. Owners of Blackpool, Charlton, Hull City, Port Vale all in long term disputes with their fans over how their clubs have been run. Coventry City don’t have a ground to play in, using St Andrews 25 miles away. Perhaps the pyramid is collapsing from the foundations. The day when the elite clubs seal themselves off from the rest may be approaching.
A sad evaluation of the state of things. Some very interesting facts and stats. Says a lot that despite our many problems and challenges, we go into this season with a few new additions and a full squad of players.
Seems like football is reflecting life in the real world. Those that have are not so willing to share, with those that have not. Every now and then someone buck's the trend, but its the same old **** for most of them.....us.
The irony regarding sharing is that Bury allowed the breakaway FC United of Manchester to share Gigg Lane back when FC United started up and up till they built their own stadium. Sadly, the success of nearby Salford City with the money of the 'Class of 92' are set to overtake a club which have previously been FA Cup winners. The demise of Notts County as well from the EFL shows tradition doesn't pay the bills...
Harvey Elliott: Liverpool youngster apologises for offensive video https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49186869 In a statement, Elliott said he is "truly sorry" and the contents of the video "do not represent who I am as a person or how I've been brought up". How many times have we heard a statement like that? I am very much prepared to bet at least £20 that the content of the video does represent who he is as a person in very much the same way as Carragher spitting out his car window at a man and his daughter represents who he is as a person.
What a way to break their duck! After more than 2 years without a win Fort William FC the worst team in Britain win 5-2...
I recommend watching this.... BBC iPlayer - The Fort https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00079g9/the-fort Great documentary about the worst team in Britain, and how they've bought in a new board, and their hopes for this season.....looks like it paid off!
QPR U23's beat Fulham away last night 5-1. This hilarious and completely biased report claims that we had numerous first team squad players involved. Yeah right, they were all up in a hotel in Stoke at the time mate ... http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2019/august/02/u23s-fulham-vs-qpr
Have to say what a great kit Citeh wore at Wembley yesterday, proper old style plain colour like being back in the 60s...
54 goals in 74 appearances for Liverpool, Col. if that’s overrated then I’d like one for the Rs too. I know what you mean, though. I remember how Andy Cole scores a bucketful for a United, but how often Cantona held his head in his hands as another sitter went past the post or into the keeper’s hands.
Not saying he's not a very good player and his goal scoring record speaks for itself. I just feel that his description of being 'world class' is to over rate him. He very often looks like a park player to me and is outrageously selfish. I reckon his goals/games record will gradually worsen.
