Looks like mambo's off to a blue square premier side today, from SLP... "CHARLTON defender Yado Mambo is set to make a loan exit from The Valley today - with two Blue Square Premier clubs making a move for his services. Both clubs tabled offers for the 19-year-old yesterday and were cleared to discuss a switch with the Kilburn-born stopper. Mambo is set to make a decision on the pair this morning. The academy produce has had previous loans at Welling, Dover, Staines and Eastbourne." Good to see his off to a blue square rather than another staines/dover team. I'd rather have seen him go to a league 2 side but as long as he get's a decent amount of game time i'm not to bothered, as long as one day he can wear the no.5
Agree with you Haysey about League 2. Reports from Reading suggest he is more than ready for that level. Any news on how he did in the second half against PNE?
Played out of position at RB following Francis' departure at half time. Wasn't a starring role and looked solid in defence but tried to many long balls down the wing for my liking in that role, particulalry with Danny Green not being fully fit. Should have tried to carry the ball since their left wing were thinking twice about tackling him. He is definitely one for the future but probably needs league 2 or possibly Luton in the BSP
Pretty much agree with SVC's assessment, from what I saw he was playing a bit close to the line as well so risked the ball going out of play every time he took a bad touch. I too would rather see him join a league Two team, but Luton is a good call.
really? I thought Mambo was poor and replaced an equally poor Francis. They had great joy down that wing
If I remember rightly (AH and FHB could clarify), didn't Mambo also play RB in the under 18's and Matthew's liked to make players versatile? I know it's not his natural position, but shouldn't have been alien to him. But, back to the point.. would have been happier if it was a League Two team, but Ebbsfleet it is!
I don't remember seeing Mambo play RB in the under-18's although he did play that position while on loan at Staines. He did look uncomfortable on tuesday but to suggest that he was as bad as Francis is taking things a bit too far.
Francis got booked for diving in on their tricky left winger. I'm sure Yado was told to try to hold him up and not dive in, but it didn't work for their second goal. He is really not a right back. He can get real height in attack and defence which made it so disappointing we didn't get any dead ball crosses in to him or Cort. Wherever he goes if they put him on the bench we should have him back.
I reckon thatâs his lot then ladsâ¦!! Heâll go on loan to a non league club then that will be the end of him. As you lads are, Iâm surprised heâs not been picked up by a League Two club. Another youngster with potential to add to the list of those not given a proper chance.
Or another youngster, that wasn't that good. If, after all this time, no L2 side (thinking of the likes of Barnet and Gillingham) want him, then you wonder how good he is. He'll be 20 in October...
Let's be honest, whens the last time we loaned out a youngster to anyone other than non-league teams? I believe it was Scott Wagstaff to Bournemouth a few seasons ago but other than that I'm struggling to think of any. Carl Jenkinson was loaned out by us to Eastbourne then a few months later was sold to Arsenal. Are the club underestimating the ability of our youth or are they really just not very good? Bit of both in my opinion. As for Mambo, I doubt he has a future at the club, he has 10 months left on his contract, is nearly 20 and is 5th choice CB currently.
I always rated him since I saw him as a 15-year old in the under-18's, so to see him now nearly 20 and rated behind Doherty is a bit of a blow. As you say these loans are a way of shunting pl;ayers out, others establish themselves in the pecking order and that is that.
