I don't get the love in with guns. I had the opportunity to use anything the Dukes had, years ago. My Brother-in-Law was Bisley bullet. I just wasn't interested.

I could have had 'gun fun' with a gpmg, anything. We went to the pub instead.

Catterick and Richmond were very nice places, but I didn't catch a single fish

As is always the case with statistics, they don't tell a story but merely provide an intro. Statistics show the USA the leader in developed nations for gun crimes. However, when you take drug-related gun crime out of the equation we're in line with everyone else. The USA has a drug problem. Every free, democratic nation has a drug problem, but ours is much worse. Not to get into the politics of this, but I suspect you hear from your media outlets that our President is a racist who wants to build a border wall because he hates Mexicans, or some such. That's just the idiots in the media being idiots. The real problem is the amount of drugs (and other criminal enterprises) which cross our borders from Mexico. In the last three years, since the State of Texas partnered with the feds on a new interdiction program, the amount of drugs confiscated has skyrocketed. Still, they can only intercept a small percentage. For example, last year they seized about 200,000 kilograms of heroin. Central American governments have deteriorated to the point they're essentially puppets to the local drug cartels. Same with northern Mexico. We hear little of this in the American media; I doubt you hear about this in the UK.

I personally base my opinion of Trump on his personal tweets. The man is a dangerous, disrespectful, imbecile.

Since when did Tweets have any weight?

You can't underestimate Twitter's role as an influencer. Think #metoo as a very recent example.
Whether you like it or not it has importance.

I'm gob smacked at how many stories on outlets such as the BBC or newspapers are basically Twitter stories. It's massively influential.

You've got me thinking all philosophically now.

Are tweets like the modern day angels?

Like they have presence and substance but have no mass or occupy no space.

How many tweets can you get on the head of a pin?

Medieval theologians spent their entire careers contemplating such ****e as this, ya knaa.

I don't understand what you mean, to be fair.

Why would Trumps own words, posted on his personal twitter account not hold any weight? Surely it is a better basis for forming an opinion on him than the media portrayal of him? Are you saying its fake news, and he's deliberately making himself look like a total **** to the whole world when in fact he's really a political genius?

    They do have a mass.

A tweet is 140 characters, or 140 bytes. Each byte is made up of 8 bits. It takes 1,000,000 atoms to hold a bit. Therefore a tweet has mass equal to that of between 8,000,000 and 1,120,000,000 atoms.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Why is it the USA statistics always exclude certain types of gun crimes and murders? Your previous post claiming Thailand has more murders than the USA was simply ridiculous.

The USA has a gun problem

It may well have other problems but it has a massive gun problem.

We’ve had a problem with terrorism in recent history.

Maybe if more people carried a bomb we would have less terrorists.

The USA has a Drug Crime rate of 560 offences per 100,000 people (ranked 41st globally). The G7 Average is 84,593, the UK has 183,149 and Germany is highest with 250,969.

The US does have a drug problem but the numbers are not bigger than other countries the difference is the criminals have very easy access to guns. I know that most of those guns are not legally owned but they started out that way before being sold to criminals. 70% of guns recovered from Mexican crime scenes were originally bought in the US.

Two more mass shootings in the U S of A. One seems to be a racist hate crime and one a domestic.

    No matter, 30 dead regardless.

So what is to be done?

Tighter regulations? Ban the sale of guns? Ban the sale of ammo? More education? Less education? Arm more people? Arm everybody?

Oh sorry, for asking the question. How ****ing naive of me. What will change?

    Absolutely **** all.

As I've said before - if nothing changed after Sandy Hook - when it was children dying, then absolutely nothing will change.

And when you've got a leader who is essentially openly giving these people reasons to commit these horrendous acts, it will only continue to spiral.

It's a ****ing horrible country really, isn't it. Maybe we should've never gone there.

It's one of those things where Iv'e got lots to say, but where I know there's no point in saying it, because it will never happen when there is so much money involved. I'm so happy we have the gun laws we have.

Has anyone here ever seen it all kick off in Hull Royal Casualty? Throw guns into the equation and...
