Great shot stopper, poor commanding his box and terrible distribution, always kicked it out the pitch at goal kicks, but our number 1 for 6 years and I wouldn’t say he was terrible but kicking ability poor with great reflexes

From listening to Bielsa, and I find him fascinating, I think he's looking for footballers. He wouldn't want an Ayala because he can only do one job, he's a CB.
Bielsa wants a CB who could also play RB or DM and Vice Versa. What I understood about the 18 players in the squad was that there were 3 options for each position so each player would get less minutes this season.
I think our fluidity could be very difficult to play against.

My biggest worry is watching us get the same possession % as last year, create as many chances and still fail to take them. I'm hoping adding the quality of Helder Costa up front will see us take more chances. We didn't need to take many more last season.
I don't think last season was lost against Derby, it was lost before then when we threw away games against QPR, Wigan and Ipswich. Even the game against Sheff Utd.

I'm not concerned if Roofe goes. I'd love to see some of the promising U23s make an impact because they are the future. You might be able to buy your way to promotion but you need a good bunch of kids to stay up. Ask Fulham.

    Roll on Sunday

Roofe is a great opportunist and a natural finisher, and we need to replace his ability to bust a gut to get on the end of half chances and convert them.

The best thing for me was his movement, pulling defenders out of position to allow others to benefit and / or play him in - Bamford doesn’t seem capable of giving us that, he’s more of a static “here I am put it on my toe” sort of striker, so we’ll be looking to Harrison & Costa to make the openings.

All we need is someone consistent to stick the myriad chances created in the onion bag, and hopefully Paddy steps up - if he doesn’t his career is finished, he’ll never have a better chance to be prolific. Gayle would get 25 easily, but I’m loathe to see him in a Leeds shirt, can’t stand him - on a par with Grealish. <laugh>

Suppose I’ll just have to suck it up if we bring him in.

    Not convinced, Davy. :)

I was one of the people screaming at Bamford to GTF into the penalty box & get off the right wing. :D Yup, under this 3-3-1-3 setup, he's required to move positions, unlike the 4-1-4-1, where he'd be central most of the time. Of course, being stupid me, I hadn't realised we were playing 3-3-1-3. I was just confused & hadn't twigged. Again. So he's learning a new game (as they all are). Not sure how this will affect his scoring prowess, for as you say, Bamford was more of a 'to the foot' player.

I'm also not convinced that Gayle would fit in. I don't know a lot about his style of play, other than the high goal ratio. I do wonder though if he could play Bielsaball, as MB is ruthlessly intolerant of anyone not following the game plan. And I think he's too selfish & undisciplined to stick to the plan. Not his fault - that's the type of guy you build a team around, but we're not in the business of doing that.

It's the Vydra rumour that worries me. Expensive, overpaid, unproductive, and most important for me, turned us down before.

And no, I can't offer up a Roofe replacement - but I bet you Bielsa can (and I wonder if his name might be Harrison :) ). Me? I'm thick. I'd go for the obvious one (to me) - Edmondson.

So are you going with Pruttons predictions this weekend? Which, if memory serves me correctly, is your lot sneaking a win at Wigan, although I do have my own prediction for that one, and us winning 2-1 at Bristol?

The curfew starts at 8.00am UK time each Saturday or Match day by the way, for future reference

    Good morning All.
Start of a new season so must have a PMA.
Our leader did say at the end of last season that our team at that time did not have a repeat performance in them.
So changes have been made, hopefully for the better time alone will tell. Last season was our best in a long long time, with in the main some very good football being played and was a joy to watch.
OK we failed at the last hurdle, but as they say Rome was not built in a day. We have to leave it to the powers that be to get us to the promised land.
Everyone should know by now that I don't fully trust Radz and co having said that credit where it's due he has gained for the club the respect we deserve. Most of the problems I currently have with football is with the EFL
I will never forget or forgive the 200k fine they gave Bielsa I also question the way they have handled the Bury/Bolton situation. The EFL are not fit for purpose and are well overdue for a clear out. Harvey may have gone but he has done untold damage.
I have got to admit to nervousness about the coming season but hay ho that's part of the joy of being a fan/supporter
    Here's to a successful season <cheers>:emoticon-0148-yes:

Morning all. Over the past few days the usual doomsters seem to expect a mid table finish or worse. Lets see if Sundays game will lift their expectations.
