Ready To Go, for all it’s the most active Sunderland forum, well it gets all the ****ing whoppas. Honeyman is a tidy and effective player, grafts his bollocks off, but struggled with the brutal physicality of League One. I was happy for him to go, but that’s not so much a reflection on George as a reflection on we have too many CMs and we needed a bit more bite in there. He scores 1 in 4 so that’s solid, and given the slightly more graceful level you’re at he will be a far better player for you than us this season. No true SAFC fan will wish anything g other than the best for the lad and I hope he turns up a top buy for you. You’ll never see a lack of effort from the lad, I guarantee that. All the best for the season.
Cheers. Believe me mate nobody gets more frustrated with Sunderland and Newcastle fans than other Sunderland and Newcastle fans. I was for George going and was open about it, a few of us on here were, but not in the way it’s talked about on RTG. Was more a balancing thing, we’ve got McGeady and Watmore who are a bit more creative, and we’ve signed Dobson who is a big lad to give the physicality in the middle. George was on a bigger championship contract and would have been fighting with Gooch, Power, McGeough, Leadbitter for a short, as well as young Embleton who I firmly believe will go all the way to the top. George is a really tidy player, but he did struggle to influence games last season due to basically teams wanting to just kick **** out of us as we are a mark in this league. He could combine lovely with Bowen if you keep him as he finds space well and makes good runs. As I said, can see him being a really useful player at a higher level.
Because I’m talking about goals scored? Pretty sure Eaves will do most of the bullying, he’s a giant.
Thanks for your positive responses re Honeyman. It sounds like he should do alright for us. We haven’t done too badly with players we’ve previously had from Sunderland, so hoping that Honeyman follows suit. I did find it strange some of the comments from Sunderland fans berating a Sunderland player that was Captain and from the region. New start for him and hopefully a positive one.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of time I spend on here bemoaning our own fans and the fact they have to get stuck in and scapegoat folk. There’s always summat going on it’s Grigg at the minute. There’s a way to go about it, George or any other could have went, given the high salary and short contract I guess that’s why he was elbowed a little. To have them say he’s ****e and spitting bile about the lad is a crock of ****, if you’ve watched any of the Netflix documentary it’s clear how much the lad loves the club, even came across in his signing interview for you. I genuinely hope he smashes it down there, looks a bit more stable for you lads this year at least, nice little tickle off the Maguire deal as well. I love to see anyone but Rodwell, Colback and Meyler do well, but we have every piece of justification for that. Anyone else that leaves I wanna see do well, and with George being one of our own that’s x 10.
Rodwell, I think everyone knows. Colback, well he told the club he was signing, agreed contract and dragged it out then it turned out he’d agreed a deal months in advance and we lost a fee for a lad we’d developed for 11 years. ****. Meyler, well. I liked him as a player. He had a couple of really bad injuries, to be frank, the talk was he’d been told his career may be over. The club renewed his deal and went beyond and paid for specialist treatment etc, and he got back, good for the lad, but the club never wrote him off. We moved him on, by the time he came back he wasn’t needed, similar to George not a ‘bad player’ thing, just a lot of bodies, then when we played you he constantly goaded our fans, he wasn’t being booed or owt, there wasn’t any bad feeling, he chose to go down that route and it kinda escalated from there. I’m not one that minds a player celebrating a goal for a new club against a former, why wouldn’t you? It was beyond that, it was genuine goading and disrespect. For that, **** him.
So what sort of wages are they paying at Sunderland now ? I expected we'd be signing League 1 players but not from Sunderland
Bolton announce 3 new players all in the starting 11 after the team sheet comes out One of which is James Weir.
Maybe my memory is slipping, in fact I know it is, along with my hearing (but that's another story, ****ing middle age), but I didn't' think we'd made any offer at all to Campbell? Can someone more knowledgeable clarify that please?
Neither has anyone else yet, his agents are touting him round Championship clubs but they are asking big wages for him, he may have to reduce his expectations.
I suspect it may be a combination of wages and length of contract tbf .. I'd have him back in a heartbeat tbh
