Via John Percy. Harry Maguire has been left out of Leicester's squad for Friday's friendly against Atalanta, amid #mufc transfer interest. I fear this one is going down to the wire... #lcfc https://t.co/UyyVOwAnWJ via @telefootball Oh!
We are being linked with 28yo Belgium CB Christian Kabasele from Watford - can't say I know a lot about him apart from he didn't feature much for Watford last season. We have signed 16yo US GK Christian Kabasele from Whitecaps FC after a successful trial - kid is already is 6'7 and could be the new Spider Kalac.
My issue with Maguire is that whilst he has been praised for being so professional, now it appears that he is making a fuss (missing training, the Atlanta game, agent rumours etc) but doesn’t want to put a transfer request in as he’ll lose his ‘loyalty bonus’. Sorry but he’s not being loyal. Fair enough if he wants to move and for a good price. But if we don’t accept a bid then he has himself to blame for looking to line his pockets not put in a formal request. It seems more players think they can effectively for transfers informally which is wrong. I hope Top makes him forfeit any extra money from us if he moves.
I'd not say hes being unprofessional, it sounded like genuine illness on Monday as he was back at training on Tuesday. The rumors are that hes told the club he wants to pursue a move (likely because he'll be on double+ wages rather than the "playing where his "heroes" played" bollocks), if this is true, he probably is anxious that it won't get done, so totally accept why he is missing Atalanta game. It also suggests to me that the clubs are close enough to agree a fee before the transfer window ends and it would be detrimental to play him when we need to see other defensive partnerships before Wolves. As for the agent rumors, of course his agent is plugging for a move, if it was upto agents, they would move their clients to different clubs every summer so they get a huge chunk more cash every year. Agents will never advise their client to stay put when they can make bank. I'd have more respect for him if he actually put in a proper transfer request so he'd waive any loyalty bonus meaning we could accept a lower fee from Man U, but it doesn't seem to me that hes that desperate to move or he thinks he can hold out for both to happen.
Brighton are signing Bristol City defender Adam Webster for £22M If Maguire goes it may mean they are more likely to allow Dunk to go if we target him Alot of ifs though
Not for the prices they are quoting for him, £45m for a 27 year old (then again Maguires 26 ) Its probably too much to expect us to fleece Man U for Maguire and not get fleeced ourselves for a replacement, especially a replacement with PL experience. Unless hes going to become the next Wes Morgan (as in staying here for the rest of his career/ maybe club captain etc), then i see this as a huge waste of the Maguire money. We made contingency plans for a last minute bid last summer, give Soyuncu and Benkovic a chance. Sell Maguire and get in Praet and Zaha
We have agreed an £85M deal with Man U for Maguire Hull will get 10%-15% of it but that could just be of the profit depending on what we negotiated at the time Maguire will get 10% himself as he didnt put in a transfer request So we end up with about £60M which is about what he is worth so we have had Man U pants down here Dunk seems the likely replacement which will cost about £40M
This is outrageous tbh, player shouldn't get anything out of a transfer between clubs, hes already on a decent wedge and will likely double it in the next few days. I guess his agent is doing backflips. Percys usually bang on with Leicester transfers, with some of the guff Sky Sports comes out with, i know who i believe.
On Maguire - called it. For that money I think it's good business and Rodgers has no doubt got plans for it ... hoping to see Benkovic or Soyuncu rise to the challenge but not averse to us bringing in someone either
