I agree that DM is where we're weakest, mainly because of the injuries. I was in favour of signing Ajayi and still think we need another DM covering the defence. Only after that happens would Rhodes be the next priority. There are signs that DF sees Srbeny as another option to Stiepermann more as a second striker role. Rhodes could then provide the third striker option in case of injuries. I'd rather Idah stays in the first team squad as well, while getting game time in the cups and with the U21s.
It would likely have to be League 1 due to the transfer windows. Transfer window for Prem and championship shut at the same time, whilst the lower leagues have another 3 weeks. If we were to sign Rhodes in the final hours, there may not be time to arrange a Championship loan. Regardless, I still think League 1 is the right level for Idah. I'd hope he could go there and become first choice. That might be too much of a gamble for a Championship side.
I suspect it'd be much harder to find a Championship loan spot where he was "guaranteed" to play every week esp at the last minute vs League 1 iykwim.
Tom Elliott Loan from Millwall to Ipswich has stalled over worry about recovery time from his injury. Good. When Millwall came to Carrow Road in that epic game, he really worried our defence. I thought he looked a really handy player. He’d be dangerous in League 1.
Here we (they) go again!! Villa are leading Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the race to sign 22-year-old Liverpool and Wales winger Harry Wilson in a £20m deal. (Star)
Could Rhodes be on his way back? https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spo...city-transfer-rumours-jordan-rhodes-1-6192537 The Owls are not too happy at our offer but are under financial pressure to get his wages off their wage bill
If SW has made this offer, it's likely to be his starting point in negotiations. They have asked for £7m, their starting point in negotiations. Both are unrealistic. If a deal is done it will be somewhere in the middle, though I suspect it will be closer to our end. My guess would be around £2m.
How embarrassed are they going to be if they do an even bigger Fulham! They'll be this year's media darlings, like Frank Lampard's Derby were last year. That went well didn't it!
I just don't understand how a team who were nearly out of business, and only scraped in through the playoffs can then spend 150 odd million, with no worries about FFP, and no mention in the press about it either. Just about how "they are taking the Premiership seriously". I think they will finish mid-table. Teams we are up against who blatantly flaunt FFP, always get way with it.
Yes, I thought Bielik was a possibility this year, but he didn't want a loan and the fee is thought to be around £10m, which I'm not sure he's worth.
Nakamba - Villa - £.?....who knows, what does it matter what he cost. Edit: 11M being quoted. Just another 11.
