Dwyer seems to go well at the track when he is here and in general . So 22s looks interesting .

Galway 5.55 DE MAZZARO E/W 16/1 - Has been running to a good level on the flat so is race fit with this the target. Talented but frustrating.

Galway 7.40 MR ADJUDICATOR 3/1 - Price has collapsed, chucked in on hurdles ratings and should be winning this with a clear passage.

Galway 8.10 RED GERRY 5/1 - Second to O'Briens Bleinheim Palace over 10f in April, Bleinheim Palace then finished second to Broome (4th in English Derby) in the Derrinstown Stud Trial and 1/2 length in front of Sovereign (Won the Irish Derby) so the forms not bad just a question mark over the extra distance especially being by Canford Cliffs, should go close if he sees it out.

Sorry for the delay in replying, old boy, was down in God’s own county for 2 and a bit weeks up until yesterday.

Yes, it was a bad miss. Especially seeing as I had put up Excellent Team on his previous run! I looked at the race though on the Sunday evening and again on the morn of the race and just couldn’t have him. The main reason being that I just couldn’t see him beating the front 2 in the market – Nabhan is more than capable on his day and the Pipe ‘hotpot’ looked extremely well treated. Excellent Team was at that time a 6/1 shot and I didn’t deem this ‘value’, so it was somewhat frustrating to see him close at 9/1 (touched 10’s as well) and then oblige.

Going back on, no, no, no, no, no, I mean on, not back on, the psychiatrists couch for a moment one of my failings as a punter (number 703) is my continued belief that the Pipe’s are always up to something and are probably a lot more clever and devious than they actually are. I need to revise my opinion that they aren’t, these days at any rate, criminal masterminds way ahead of the assessor and those bookie chappies.

Didn’t watch the Newton Abbot race live (so this is said with the benefit of hindsight) but you could see, on the replay, with a circuit to go that Excellent Team was going to win and I’ve kicked myself a few times since for missing out on him.

Excellent Team was entered at Newton Abbot earlier this week (Wednesday) but wasn’t declared. Disappointing as I was in attendance and was looking forward to seeing him run – although it would have been much more difficult for the old scout off an impost 8 lbs higher than previously. That fixture wasn’t all doom and gloom though, far from it in fact, as Princess Camilla won the card commencer. Made me somewhat giddy I must admit. My old fave, Black Anthem, wining later on the card also was a result to saviour – that’s looking a very good ‘claim’ by the good Doctor now incidentally.

Always amazes me that what some trainers class as ‘in training’ others don’t. Is an animal on his hols, out injured, resting or recuperating ‘in training’??? Ask that of 100 trainers and you’d probably get 100 different answers. Alan King, incidentally, counts none of the above ‘types’ as ‘in training’. Personally I can’t see how any trainer can count one on their hols (e.g. at owners stud/home or out at grass somewhere enjoying the life of old boy Riley) as ‘in training’ but most seemingly do even though it is no guarantee that after the hol said horse will be returned to them (that scenario even happened to our beloved Lieutenant last summer when one went from Seven Barrows to summer at his owners place prior to then being put back in training with ‘ickle Danny Skelton).

Just realised I’ve Rambled with a capital ‘R’ even by my standards but they did lose Doubly Clever (via a claim to Johnny Farrelly. That horse 1/1 for new connections by the way.) recently so that is why one has gone. Also, Waitinonasunnyday is on the long-term injured list and not expected to be back, on track, until the 2nd half of 2020. Coole Cody, Hurricane Arcadio and Tis Fantastic were until recently, and may in fact still be, on their hols. But have you seen the new arrival by the way - Trio D'Ecajeul. They got him for the very cheap sounding £8k when you consider that he is unbeaten in the old Pointing field. Is this 5YO son of Diamond Boy one on your bumpers to note list??? I’d imagine he would start in such a heat this coming Autumn/Winter.
