    Sadly I think they'll get relegated now, he was doing a great job!

    Dunno what kind of effect this will have on their squad, I'm hoping from our point of view that the players heads drop and they sink but who knows. This is similar to what happened with Hughton, he's got the best win % of any of their managers and has made some cracking signings and somehow thats not good enough.

    I would hate to see WBA go down. I really like them and their fans, would be a big big shame.

    Would rather they were in the premier league than teams like Wigan.

    Shocked at this! Already Chris Hughton's name is been thrown around. Would like to see him make a return to management, then come back to St. James' on the last day. Would get a great reception!

    Shame, I really rate Di Matteo as a manager. Shouldn't have much trouble finding a new job.

    Good for Newcastle (as recently a lot of talk has been about surviving relegation). Now all teams in the league beginning with W will be struggling.

    Edit: Just read comment about Hughton being his replacement. Would love this. Would definately want them to stay up if this is the case.

    A really nice guy and he can only do so much with what he's got. Who will they get that can do better?

    I think Fat Boy has to take a large share of the blame for starting this trend of sacking managers pointlessly.

    That's unbelievable. He's done so well to get them up and have them play some brilliant football. Disgraceful decision.

    <ok>

    I always hate it when a manager gets a team promoted and then is sacked when the team is struggling in the Premier League, but WBA weren't doing too badly. Yes they're in danger, but 16th in the league is very much job done after 25 games.

    Didn't see that coming.

    They should go for Hughton.

    He has got a great footballing philosphy, so it's a shame. Had his team playing decent stuff aswell.

    Pointless sacking.
