Liverpool are reportedly ready to hijack Arsenal’s deal to sign Lille forward Nicolas Pepe. According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have entered the “dance” for Nicolas Pepe. With numerous reports on Saturday confirming that Arsenal had a £72m bid accepted, Liverpool are now looking to scupper the deal. https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/07/28/liverpool-to-hijack-arsenals-move-for-nicolas-pepe/
They really wont let this one go. Agent working over time, clearly Pepe doesn't want Napoli or Arsenal. Still trying to get a better move.
We've had an awful pre season. Defense is shaky without Alisson there, midfield struggling and without any of our forward three, we're hapless up top. We can only rest one of the three at best on our pre season showing since the backups are garbage. I know it's only pre season, but the seasons starts soon and we're not ready. Need to sign a backup. Asap.
Sigh. Want to be proved wrong, but here we go again like in 2002, 2009 and 2014 when we finished second - then took three steps back. Really not arsed about pre-season games, but I'm looking at it from the perspective of our form in the last few games, bar the Barcelona tie. We struggled against Cardiff, let alone Newcastle, and Wolves were all over us for large parts of our last game. I put that down to limping over the line in a long, brutal season (though nowhere near as brutal as it could have been had we even tried in the two cup competitions). Not even that worried about The Community Shield, except that we need to put some marker down against City, but even Norwich on our first home game.... I'm not as confident as when we kicked off against West Ham last season, I tell you.
We've not stood still or gone backwards. Yes, we've lost Studge (whoopy do imo) but who else? Clyne was out on loan last season anyway so no loss there. We've signed two highly rated youngsters, we see the return of Gomez, Oxlade and Lallana plus the introduction of Brewster. If anything, the squad is stronger than last year. The negativity is more about particular positions such as RB, LB and in attack. Imo we've got the numbers, it's the quality that is questionable but that happens with youngsters.
European Champions, all united and will go into the new season with full knowledge of a title race and all 1 year wiser. We’ve taken a huge step forward getting that first major trophy under Klopp.... and in case no one noticed, the whole summer hasn’t been about waiting for our best players inevitably leaving us - turned a corner, not at all worried about some pre season results
Sounds like the name of someone who should be bringing me a gin and tonic on a silver plate whilst wearing a tuxedo shirt.
So eleven players against four. I like those odds, we might put our preseason woes behind us and get a draw with eleven against four.
