You don't have to activate the card if you only want to use it to access the ground on match days ie it replaces the old season ticket cards

I won't be activating mine - I already have a perfectly serviceable debit card that is free to use

    Makes sense

I cannot see that anywhere on the letter
Can anyone point me to where it says that?
It's hot here so I may be going mad

It doesn't on the letter so I checked on the club website
I assume the the (lack of) communication on the letter was deliberate

Is this a replacement for the now 3 year old cards we have ? If so, mine have not yet arrived.

I emailed the club, as I didn't want a credit card either.
Quite cheeky just sending it with little explaination .
As Stortford says, you don't need to do anything if you just want to use it for access to the ground.

Yes when I renewed I was told there were new cards this year

13,284 people will turn up for the first game
4000 will get entry and have a new registered a credit card they don't want
5254 will turn up with the old season ticket expecting it to work
4030 will just use this ticket without registering it as they've either been on this forum or contacted the club and wasted a shed laod of time doing so
Is this mis-selling or deliberate sharp practice or stupidity ???

I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to sign up to actually use the card as a debit card. 15p + .75% added to any transaction and even then you have to register your regular debit card as a guarantee. Okay, you can get some of it back if you intend to buy some tat in the club shop but why bother? TBH this is verging on sharp practice by the club and whatever payday loan shyters are behind 'Transact Payments'. I'm embarrassed that it's my club that's the first to try out this new fiddle.

Won't be activating it but there was plenty of notice about this in email and clear communication from the club.

Hold on, what’s going on here? I routinely delete emails from the club, especially if they have something like ‘your QPR MasterCard’ in the title. Are you saying that when I get round to renewing my membership I will be sent a credit card which doubles as a membership card/ticket for when I come to games?

    Yep.
Mine arrived and I had no idea why I had a credit card to activate.
I emailed the club and they said that it doesn't need activating if I just want to use it for access to the ground.

Seems very dodgy practice to me and I think they'll be quite a backlash about it.

I agree - I don't see any benefit to me as a fan over and above the old membership / ST card

That’s disgraceful. I’m genuinely shocked. Most of us can work our way through crap like this, but there are always some who will run up debts unwittingly. That the club can collude in this kind of crap for its fans is really horrible.

I’ll do without a membership card then, and will tell them why.

    Yep.
It was detailed in emails I got from the club though I wasn't aware of the 15p and 0.75%. However thay might be because I didn't bother reading since I had no intention of activating the credit card.

Just to clarify - if activated the card is a DEBIT card and not a CREDIT card

As Stortford just pointed out, it's a debit card not a credit card. You have to link it to an existing debit card to use it, so no danger of people running up credit. You just get some QPR credits if you use this card rather than your regular debit card. Nothing sinister.

Is Aaaagh wrong then? 15p +.75% per transaction sounds deeply sinister to me, when there is nothing when you use your regular debit card.
