Am I the only one who doesn't give a flying **** as to what happens with him? He's on stupid money at Real (not his fault), he's got 3 years left on his contract (again not his fault) but seemingly is out of favour with ZZ (probably not his fault either). He's 30 years of age and his agent firmly believes he's one of the best players on the planet, obviously trying to get some big money pay day in by getting a deal done somewhere. What strikes me though is that GB seems to have no interest in moving and taking a pay cut, instead happy to sit it out on the bench, or worse in the reserves, live the high life in Madrid playing golf for the next 3 years until his contract runs out. None of the big clubs in Europe seem interest in him, mainly due to his wages. Whether or not they would be tempted if he were to take a pay cut (he'd still be on 6 figures here remember....poor ****er) is a different story. I haven't really got much sympathy for him I'm afraid. He earns more in a week than a lot of people won't earn in 10 years working, all for playing 50 games of football a year....it's a hard life innit?
It's a stupidly inflated contract that he's on, as per Sanchez at Man Utd, but that's the issue, clubs have issued these contracts, so why should the players be made to take a financial hit and move elsewhere when the clubs change their mind. Forget the size of salary compared to the average man on the street, if you went into work signed a decent fixed term contract, then half way through the contract they said "Nah we don't want you here any more!". It's the clubs and the agents that have pushed football to the crazy level it's at. Of all the money in the game it's all being siphoned off to players and agents, Eg Hudson-Odoi, now on £100,000 per week!! I almost hope a lot of players on these mega-deals hold their clubs to ransom, as they shouldn't be offering the £££ if they're not prepared to honour it. Obviously no player is worth that amount of money, but if it ties their clubs salary budget up, they might start thinking before offering the contracts. It's almost coming to the point that a salary cap needs to be implemented. FIFA's fair play, doesn't appear to carrying much weight, but the level of contracts offered out surely can't be sustained. TV rights are becoming more expensive, tickets are becoming more expensive, replica kits, etc all jumping up in price, so it's us idiots as fans that are funding all of this, to pay all of these inflated salaries that just further disconnects the modern footballer from Joe Public.
Don't have any opinion on him. Couldn't comment on his attitude etc. He's an exceptional footballer laden with natural talent. He also seems about as robust as a lasses fanny after a night on the tiles. He's always ****ing injured from what I can see.
I mean in terms of attitude. He is being painted as a right **** more interested in golf who doesn't like mixing with the players. Its just paper talk so I wouldn't pretend to know what he's like. I can however have an opinion on his ability and also whether he can stay fit. He's really good, but he's just another perma crock. Ankles are made of glass. Here is trying to get down some stairs in the centre of Madrid... please log in to view this image
A footballer potentially covers their lifetime earnings in a protracted 10,11,12,13 year career. Earnings that will not only set them for life, but also their son's and daughter's and their son's and daughter's after them. That's it, that is what we are here for. It's not being a mercenary if you rock up to a club, they give you a contract that you negotiate up, and then stay when they want rid. They take a risk with each contract, that's why top clubs employ spies, coaches, data analysts, social media sleuths etc to try to minimise the risk. Tough ****, sometimes it doesn't work out. The most vitriolic and idiotic word in football is "mercenary". You have to be the richest SOB in the world to look down on someone else and think they should be doing it for the love of the game, rather than for money. If you can do that in your own life, if you can dredge festering turds out of a sceptic tank "for the love of the profession", then you do you, nobody else gets a say on how you live your life or your motivations. The only time it is fair to criticise is when professionalism comes into question. So far Gareth Bale has trained and worked as a professional, and he will do til he retires, so **** Madrid, and **** any other club that uses a groundswell of moronic badge kissers to chase footballers from towns with rusty pitchforks, all because they ****ed up round the negotiating table.
Talking about professionalism! Im lieing looking out my bedroom window at a spider eating another insect ... i can tell it can see me but its still dealing with the task in hand and sucking out the insects brain while i prepare flame thower.
I dunno. Zidane comes across as an absolute arsehole with a vendetta, who will stop at nothing to get rid of Bale. That's been the case since he walked through the door. I take his side of this with a pinch of salt, as he's handled the situation very poorly.
