Great pictures Ynysforgan! Couldn't make it yesterday, but definitely one stadium I want to visit. Didn't realise some parts of Highbury are still standing, albeit now converted to flats. Nice to have that wonderful stadium but also must be great for Arsenal fans' to still see parts of their past....
The stand that still stands is actually listed so that nobody can tear it down. I guess the marble halls of Highbury aren't that easy to demolish. It is great to see it though. It's like seeing where you come from. I walked around Brands Hatch the other week, and my great grandad was the farm owner who put in the first dirt tracks there. It has the same sort of feeling as seeing Highbury.
Great pictures. I remember last time i went i had camera out and a steward told me i wasnt aloud to take pictures. So i took one of him, i then got a 'final warning' pfft. still took loads mind
Both the east and west stands were listed buildings and as such the outer walls of both have been incorporated into the redevelopement
fab pics. i must admit apart from the play off final, Saturday was probably the best away day fixture i have been to. Brilliant day all round and good hospitality shown by every Arsenal fan i spoke to.
It would have been nice to have kept part of the Vetch but not sure which bit! From a personal view point th bit of the back of the North Bank in line with the penalty area at teh East end where I used to stand on the angle iron as an 11 year old and stamp against the corrigated iron back when we scored - its a wonder it survived. As I sat in my comfy seat at the Emirates on Saturday it made me realise how far we have come.
Hello, everyone!I'm new here.I want to tell you a funny story: A small village was troubled by a man-eating lion. So its leaders sent a message to the great hunter, Jonesie, to come and kill the beast. For several nights the hunter lay in wait for the lion, but it never appeared. Finally, he told the village chief to kill a cow and give him its hide. Draping the skin over his shoulders, he went to the pasture to wait for the lion. In the middle of the night, the villagers woke to the sound of blood-curdling shrieks coming from the pasture. As they carefully approached, they saw the hunter on the ground, groaning in pain. There was no sign of the lion. "What happened, Jonesie? Where is the lion?" asked the chief. "Forget the damn lion!" he howled. "Which one of you idiots let the bull loose?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ads by Google Coach Handbags Coach Outlet Coach Factory Outlet Cheap Coach Purses Cheap Coach Bags
