Now we're back in the Championship, what about the forgotten players already at the club coming good this season?

What are the chances of a surprise, or is it just not going to happen and we should move on?

    1. Lee Tomlin
    2. Gary Madine
    3. Omar Bogle
    4. Danny Ward
    5. Loic Damour
    6. Greg Cunningham

It would take some decent money to replace them and we'd probably have to sell before we buy anyway - any you'd hang on to?

I notice Bogle scored again against Real Valladolid so he could be a good back up striker. Mind you he missed a penalty in the shoot out <doh>
    Not sure about the others.

    Certainly keep cunningham.
Not sure about damour given we have bacuna and vaulks.
Ward is ok as a squad player, I'd give bogle a chance. Offwith madine, and jury still out on the enigma that is tomlin!
    A real mixed bag there.

That was a good headed goal by Bogle yesterday - I doubt Zohore would have got anywhere near it.

    1. Lee Tomlin
If he’s sorted himself out he will be a big asset to the midfield.
    2. Gary Madine
    Get rid, waste of space.
    3. Omar Bogle
I think he can do something for us.
    4. Danny Ward
    Sell or release from contract.
    5. Loic Damour
Get rid, ok on occasion, but not up to NW style.
    6. Greg Cunningham
May find game time a little hard to come by, but I’d keep him.

I’m on record here previously stating we should use the talents of Tomlin, whether from the start in certain games or off the bench.

Madine is a waste of space. Problem is likely to be no club wants to pay wages to take him on loan and certainly not to buy unless it’s a free. Terrible signing.

Bogle is better IMO that Ward. IMO keep him.

    Damour is lightweight.

Cunningham did ok at this level for PNE so suppose he’d no worse for us.

OS, another one is Connelly. With Flint Bamba Morrison and Nelson there’s no need for him.

    Can't see Connolly staying Nin - that's why I didn't include him.

He was on his way to Hull in January and had even completed his medical when Morrison had his ruptured appendix. He was called back and the deal was cancelled.

I doubt he'll be here for this season even though Manga has gone given the new additions of Flint and Nelson.

His only other possible position is RB which Peltier is likely to hold down at Championship level. Bacuna or Jazz Richards (is he ever going to be fit?) are the obvious choices to replace him if he's injured or suspended, so Connolly must move on.

I'm hoping we'll see some game time for Coxe if peltier is out!

Here's a question for you then remote.

Apart from Camarasa, when was the last time Warnock started anyone under 25 let alone 21? :emoticon-0105-wink:

Probably ralls when colin first arrived. Saying that, he's started heally a few times, and kedeem. Didnt he give mark harris a start as well.
Whatever and whoever, its not often enough.
Its an issue he needs to give up on Sparkey. If youre good enough, you're old enough. I'm not saying to go down the swans route, but one or two, surrounded by experience shoulsnt be an issue.

He has started a few to be honest - Paterson, Zohore and Josh Murphy for instance, but the point I was making is that Warnock tends to go for experience, and that generally comes with age. He likes the tried and tested as the core of his teams - Bamba, Morrison, Peltier, Gunnarson, Hoilett and now Flint all fit that bill.

Sometimes you've got to think outside the box and blood the younger element if only for the surprise factor for the opposition.

Let's see what happens this season, but I think we're in for another power and experience approach - let's hope he can shake it up a bit as well. <ok>

Id expect Danny Ward to be a regular on the bench. Think Madine Tomlin and Bogle will go.

Cunningham will be on the bench but is among the best left backs in the division so we may get an offer.

Damour is decent back up but i think he'll go as well.

Think its only Ward and Cunningham who will play a part.

Think we’ll need Cunningham. You need squad depth.

Ward probably as well but I have a sneaking feeling Bogle just could do something if he’s given game time.

I’m not going to repeat my views on Tomlin but will add that if our manager is looking for that player with something special, a game changer - however infuriating he may he in training and off the field - then he need look no further.

Keep them all apart from Madine. Waste of space.

I would hang on to 5 of those 6, the exception being Damour.
I think a firing Tomlin means chances for our strikers (whoever they will be!), which is something we’ve lacked for a while.

Madine is worth another shot as is Ward (who’s never put a foot wrong in my eyes).

Cunningham was seen as one of the best full backs in the league prior to us signing him...if there’s no use for him here then maybe we could get a bit of wedge for him.

As an aside this is the first time I’ve posted on 606 since the BBC one went down about 10/11 years ago. Good to see some of the old posters still on here!

Yup same guy. I went on CCMB for a while after the old BBC 606 went down and didn’t have a clue about this.
Got sick of all the political rubbish on there rather than the football speak and seen this again!
Yup you’re right, the RN took me away, I’m still there however into my last 2 years!
How’s life with yourself? I see Scully still posts on here too.

Just fine thanks Atreyu - glad to see you've found us again after this long time!

Yup, Scull still posts on here - I've been trying to encourage him to post something else other than just the Prediction League and I think it's worked. <laugh>

Lots of other old faces on here as well - please continue to jpin in. <ok>
