Good Morning. It's Tuesday 23rd July, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines

    Jansson not to be replaced

Director of Football Victor Orta has suggested that Leeds do not need another centre back to replace Jansson:- “We had a plan at the start of pre-season in terms of ins and outs. Now, more or less, we are 90 per cent covered in the plan we have.”

This is backed up by Phil Hay who offered the following comments :-
    @PhilHay
Wouldn’t surprise me if Bielsa sticks with what he’s got at CB. He’s a big fan of White

The Whites currently have six defenders on their books:- Ayling, Cooper, Berardi, White, Douglas and Davis. We also have Shackleton, Dallas and Alioski who make more than adequate wing backs.
If Leeds defence was not strong enough last season with Jansson in it (who Bielsa described as his player of the season last May) why would Bielsa choose not to strengthen?

Could Romaine Sawyers be the final piece of Bielsa's jigsaw

Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers is still very much on Bielsa's radar. The Leeds Manager is a long term admirer of the 27 yo playmaker. He has been also attracted the interest of Scottish Champions Celtic.
It is understood that Leeds have recently upped their offer for the Saint Kitts International!
Bearing in mind Bielsa's long term admiration for this player, why wasn't a deal struck with the Bee's when we (under) sold Jansson to them?

    Leeds outplayed by Saudi's

A Leeds Utd XI were soundly beaten by Saudi outfit Al Ittihad in a behind closed doors game at Thorp Arch yesterday. The makeshift XI mainly made up of reserves lost 4-2 against the Saudi Premier League team.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

A hot night leaves many with a sweaty crack today.

The young Valentim thing is still hanging around and its known Liverpool and Stoke are also interested. Orta and Bielsa have been eying this kid up for a while now?

    Will the Sawyers deal happen.

Should see significant movements out this week again.

Still waiting on BPF news as it seems Kiko is staying so Darlow wont happen, ut yet again Josh Rae was in goal for the U18s the other day? Why when he was released. Funny goings on with keepers and CBs this summer. Huffer and BPF missing, Miazek seems to be understudy to Kiko trialist in goal and young Rae ambles back

    Morning All,

"If Leeds defence was not strong enough last season with Jansson in it (who Bielsa described as his player of the season last May) why would Bielsa choose not to strengthen?"

He has added and perhaps it's because he thinks White is better, or that the sum of the parts is greater.

I still hope we could add one or two more, A striker and a goal keeper perhaps

    Morning all..

Agree with Eric you can only assume Bielsa feels White is better. It’s a tricky one, if you have someone equal to Cooper or White would it be a waste for them to sit on the bench, does Bielsa see Berardi as equally as good.

I too can’t understand why we couldn’t have used Pontus in some kind of cash plus player exchange. I still think we might grab another keeper, sell BPF and have Kiko and new keeper fighting it out

Think White was brought in to partner Cooper and I also think that before too long Struijk will be the main cover for either of them. i see more comfort on the ball in defence and creating fast attacking moves. I think Bielsa has a way of playing that makes the normal CB redundant. Hope we see it working better this season.

    Midfield options

    Roberts
    Pablo
    Klich
    Bogusz
    Shackelton
    Gotts
    Costa
    Harrison
    Clarke
    Stevens

    Front

    Stevens
    Roofe
    Bamford
    Clarke
    Mujica
    Edmondson
    Costa
    Harrison
    Roberts

Bielsa requires every player to be able to play at least two positions. Pontus can only play one. When you watch the U23s you see CBs playing at full back or DM, you see full backs playing wing and be constantly in the box at the other end. You see wingers playing at 10, strikers out wide and midfield. Ast wek we saw Kun really not a striker at all. I have a good feeling about this season

Gooid Morning to Matt and co from a warm sunny Baardsey
Well would you believe it I didn't think news could possibly get worse for me but I went to Jimmy;s yesterday to be told I may have lung cancer but I need further teats in the next fortnight which I am not looking forward to but I am still very much alive and kicking Apparently I have a lot of fluid on my left lung
Ben Gibson I mentioned him a couple of weeks ago has come on the radar could we swap him plus cash and BPF he would make an excellent signing

Morning Mike, it goes without saying that everyone on the board wishes you all the best, and definitely a full recovery. One step at a time.

Morning doc. You may be right about Bielsa’s views on a CB but for me you need a normal one at corners and set pieces, particularly with the amount of free kicks we give away near to our penalty box.

I see red if I witness bullying and couldn't drive by, I would screech to a halt and put it on the bullys, no doubt dish out a few well deserved clumps why I'm at it as well.
At school me and a couple of mates used to bully the bullies and once someone bullied me for a while until I snapped and put him in hospital.

Saw Eddie Gray this morning on his early morning run not unusual in itself but I have to say I was a bit surprised to see him in a blue and white striped t shirt, a dead ringer for Hudds town. Not good:mad:

Doc, again it goes without saying all the very best for your treatment, and the biggest thing to you both is keep fighting it.
