I always said that the problem wasn't the number of foreigner players in the English league; its the number of English players in the foreign leagues.

Its always been both for me and still is. English clubs have a duty as far as I'm concerned to develop English players and provide opportunity. We don't do that in general and Hudson-Odoi is prime example of where it goes wrong. As you know my feeling is we should never forget its the English PL and therefore a greater portion of the league should be English players. That's my personal preference and what i think is best for our league and our national team. The good thing is these clubs are now running out of excuses because of the quality we are producing now. Clearly if these lads are good to play in the Bundesliga, they are good for the PL too. So the old "if you're good enough excuse" looks very hollow all of a sudden. They are good enough and they still don't get many chances at certain clubs. You get the arrogance of some still saying "yeah but the Bundesliga is not the same standard", but they clearly haven't arsed themselves to watch it.

As I've always said though, our players need to go abroad too regardless of their age. It is an experience that can only benefit you. Broadening your understanding of the game, the different approaches, playing in different climates etc, all positive impacts.

I am all for changing the system in this country. I don't like the haves and have nots situation, which is now spiralling out of control. A levelling of the playing field to make the league more competitive would be fantastic. You'd need a wage capping scenario or draft type scenario though and it will never happen due to the moneymen preventing it. All these people saying no to that, have allowed a massive chasm to develop between the haves and have nots and its ruined the league as a spectacle. The romanticism of Leicester and how the public reacted, tells you there is an underlying desire from fans to see clubs able to compete and money not being the driving factor behind success.

I think Lampard will probably stick him in as a starter. Especially as Hazard has gone. He's the one who can help to fill those boots. He looks proper mint to me, just a bit raw and needs games now.

I think he'll take some persuading after the debacle of last year. To miss out on a move to Bayern on the promise of significant game time has probably soured things. Perhaps the manager will persuade him because I actually see Lampard giving the likes of him and Mount a chance. Chelsea have some serious youth talent. This transfer ban might actually make them realise how stupid they've been at times.

It’s a nice place mate. Not far from Marmaris. Been just the once. My mate runs boats out of their. One of the best beaches around that part of Turkey.

Off to Side in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it.

RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Everton and England Under-21 forward Ademola Lookman in a deal worth £22.5m.
The Bundesliga club had to improve on their original offer to sign the 21-year-old on a five-year deal.
