Good Morning. It's Monday 22nd July, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines Hernandez Magic Following the misery endured at the hands of Manchester Utd almost a week ago, Leeds returned to winning ways against Western Sydney Wanderers courtesy of a sublime 20 yard strike from teenage sensation Mateusz Bogusz and an individual piece of magic that Messi would have been proud of from Hernandez. The game itself was frustrating; apart from the wonder goals, the Whites found it extremely difficult to unlock WSW's defence and were thwarted time and time again. The forward line of Roofe and Bamford are likely not to change between now and the opening game of the season at Ashton Gate. Bogusz strike was the first ever goal scored at the brand new Bankwest Stadium. Bamford under attack The social media boo boys were in fine voice as Patrick Bamfords goal drought continued. The 25yo forward has not scored since his goal v Wigan back in April. Let's compare Bamfords strike rate against the best strikers Leeds have had in recent years:- Beckford 1.77 Wood 2.02 Bamford 2.44 Becchio 2.53 McCormack 2.71 Roofe 3.92 please log in to view this image In other news Roofe was pictured in a leg cast following their 201 victory over WSW. Noel Whelan has attacked Marcelo Bielsa for not giving young Clarke Oduor some minutes under his belt during their Australian tour. Why fly him half way around the World to sit on the bench? Victor Orta believes he knows why Costa decided to move to Elland Road instead of going elsewhere:- "Now all the people enjoy the TV watching our football and this is the decision [reason why] Helder Costa prefer join us than prefer perhaps back on loan in Portugal or Germany first division, or another country, because we have now the identity to attract players. please log in to view this image
Morning all.. Problem with the striker stats it can’t take into account when a striker missed a piss easy chance or when a keeper pulled off a great save, I’m still concerned over Bamford. I’m glad the team are going to be getting back together with those left at home, time for Bielsa to fine tune them as a group and fingers crossed a new signing or two still to come.
Morning all.The biggest part of a strikers armourment is confidence.Booing a player is not the way to encourage confidence.
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a dull Bardsey I don't know why we are having to wait to see if Rose is sold surely as Doc said we have recouped well over £25m BPF will probably give us a further £4m I would like us to swap Roofe plus some cash for Gayle Get an experienced CB and a proper keeper
Morning all Love stats but to do them justice you have to have apples with apples on a like for like basis or they are just meaningless but interesting numbers. Beckford scored his goals in League 1 and I loved the bloke but remember doing stats on Jermaine for the old BBC site where it was proved that Becks needed 6 chances to score before he took one. However he was so mobile that he created many chances in a game. He was compared to Jason Scotland at the time who needed only 3 chances and he beat Beckford as Leagues top scorer and the following season Rickie Lambert won it way ahead of Beckford because he only needed 2 chances. Big difference in league 1 and Championship football and Championship football is arguably the hardest league around due to parachute money and the players in every club. Another stat doing the rounds this morning is about teams who are successful come mainly from clubs who hardly change personnel from one season to the next. Theres a graph in one daily paper showing Leeds have still got 85% of the same personnel and expected to do better than last season especially with keeping Bielsa and the players already knowing his tactics. Still stories around the French kid Valentim and we also await to see if indeed BPF has signed for Burnley This week we should see even more faces leave the club I also wish the red top media would actually do their jobs as today I read that Stuart McKinstry is being talked about simply because Leeds Utd have not announced him yet, but its known he's here and playing. He was at Guisley and also played for the U18s yesterday. WJ is he man for this as Scotland allows kids to sign pro forms at 16yo but here its 17yo. So yes he's a Leeds player and we signed him as a pro but only on an academy/schoolboy status until he becomes 17 in September when we will give him his first English pro contract and make the announcement. Thanks WJ So players are back and will be back on a plane later in the week to fly to Italy
And if the new recruits were unsuccessful we should keep buying players until we had the best team in England.
All quiet so far but that tends to be the norm. He is deffo leaving if Inter Milan accept a deal for him, but other clubs in Europe are chasing him too including 4 clubs here with 2 of those being Prem clubs
Hernandez Pablo's goal was a right-side version of Eddie's 2nd v Burnley please log in to view this image Where would we be without our little magician, a class above the rest Bamford/Roofe As mentioned many times both Paddy & Kemar need to stay fit & be more clinical in front of goal if they wish to head the the championship's goalscorers chart. Can't see it myself! Whelan Didn't Odour get twelve minutes v WSW ? also he was probably there for the experience a youth would relish especially as quite a few of the first-teamers were left at TA I wish Whelan would shut his gob please log in to view this image
Think we can class Bogusz as a new addition to the first team squad. He gives us another option for both Klich and whoever at No10. If Pablo is that man we all know he cant do the whole season so having Bogusz and Roberts available is a bonus.
So you have Roofe and Bamford up front and co-co the clown in goal,,,,,,,,, interesting. who is your No 2 keeper ?
Morning all. People slating Bamford for not scoring that great chance on Saturday. For me he did everything right, in a good position, shot on target, shot low, **** at where the keeper had been. Just a great save deniwd him. If Kiko had pulled that save off we would all be raving about it. As long as he keeps getting himself these chances the goals will come. I would be more worried if he was not scoring because he was out of posistip all the time
Could ask you the same about a No2 goalkeeper at least, as I write, we still have one, can you say the same? And your new striker, 6 goals in 37 league appearances last year and the other 7 in 20, prolific?
there are others and you keep rejecting the wrong keepers and keeping the dross Kasper premier league champion Carson Champions league winner
