The state of our squad

Perhaps our scouts are looking abroad for a free transfer striker. We have taken two gambles on lower league strikers in Bonne and Aneke, ideally the next one will be more proven. Bowyer says he still expects 3-4 more players in.

 

Could be an incoming on Monday.

Curious how this number continues to drop away.
A while ago it was six or seven. A little more recently it was five loanees and another permanent signing. Now it's three or four.

Three or four more players are not going to make Charlton's squad competitive in the Championship this season even if all of them are better than Cullen or Bielik. There just will not be enough depth. Too many of the players in our 'strongest' pre-season team are unproven kids.

A couple of injuries and we will be all over the place. And in the 2nd tier we will be found out.

 

Reams has heard that Lyle Taylor is unhappy and wants out. I hope this is not true but his body language has been poor.

 

Taylor has been unhappy since his outburst around Christmas.

 

Lyle Taylor is kidding himself if that is the case, although I predicted after Wembley that it was highly likely that his agent would try to turn his head this summer. He’s in a strong position though, with only a year remaining on his contract. The “lack of ambition” excuse is an entirely reasonable one, although Taylor presumably knew what a virus Duchatelet was when we rescued him from tiny Wimbledon...

 

I wonder if this is one of those rumours which has just grown out of the way Taylor has been behaving lately.
If there are no specific incidents and no sources I think it should be treated with caution.

The 'lack of ambition' angle is worrying though.
If Taylor knows this season's squad won't be getting much stronger than it is now, it would be sufficient reason for him to think he is wasting a season staying with us himself.

 

Sounds if that is indeed Oztumer…. so we will have three #10's in the team... although at Warsaw didn't Oz play on the right of midfield?

Taylor's Twitter comment at the end of last season "I'm here if anybody needs to talk" has suggested for a while that he wants out.

 

This could be a case of Lyle Taylor’s agent stoking interest in his client, or trying to ramp up a better contract offer from Charlton.

Given that it’s now widely known that Duchatelet won’t pay any player more than £5,000 a week, it’s hard to see Lyle Taylor staying.

 

Reading are signing Charlie Adam on a free transfer from Stoke. The type of signing we need IMO.

 

Creepy Cawley is saying that a number of deals are close but can't be in the public domain.

 

That's all we need, our most important player wants out..Bowyer can't win.

 

That was a rehashed tweet from June. Cawley's on holiday for 2 weeks now.

 

Fans have Tweeted Taylor, but no response.

 

Soon after Lyle did his "If anybody wants to talk I'm here" tweet he did another tweet saying how good his agents were... coincidence?

It looks like Oztumer has signed. It hasn't been announced yet. We are also favourite to sign Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea. He was their academy player of the year. Was a winger but has been converted to a goal scoring central midfielder. He was on the bench for the Europa league final. We are also interested in Ross McCormack.

 

That Ross McCormack story must be utter horse sh1t.

He was on 30k a week at Villa.
