Am I the only one not upset that McIlroy messed up the first hole?

Did someone get an 8 over par or something similar? Nightmare. Must have been holding the wrong end of the club or something.

You would have to think so but depending on the weather tomorrow. If it's bad early doors then improves, who knows. Links golf is a different beast.

I watched McIlroy today, after the first hole nightmare I think he tried too hard to back some shots, just made things worse... Horrible for the lad...Open back in Northern Ireland...he must be gutted.

I was a huge fan of his but, this attitude towards the Olympics (well done Rose) and who he would play for, then effectively blaming his caddy for his own ego getting in the way of playing smart golf... he was nasty to his former fiancee. Then if course he has said he does not like European courses...etc

The other superstar Tiger imho is not fully fit

Did he play the wrong ball at one point? Not his best day I presume, never heard of him so maybe it was for all I know.

Not sure as I was getting the updates when I was at work. Duval was one of the best players in the 90s early 2000s. He won The Open in 2001 (I just checked).

Same here, I was surprised when he first came on the scene to find that he wasn't Mick Fleetwood's son I reckon there's a resemblance.

Watching some of it now, I don't remember seeing the sprinklers looking like that don't they usually close up or something? Looks like it's only a matter of time before a ball rolls into one.

Is it not just the beard? Mick's a big strapping fella and this bloke looks a bit scrawny.

Probably aye just with the long hair and beard he looks rock and roll, for a golfer.

I normally try and avoid golf but I'd pay to watch a game between some of the legends of rock! <laugh>
