    The things some blokes have to do for their women folk. Yesterday it was Dragon boat training, tonight a bloody Abba tribute band. Sweet Jesus, I must be some kind of husband. Anyway, onto to more pressing matters. Our affable but venerable leader Ron raised the issue of exotic bets in the St Leger, which led to my brilliant efforts in nailing the world's biggest trifecta on the event. This has fueled my already giant ego to such an extent, that I'm going to have a crack at the Sandown card. As I don't know how to formally lay out the bets, I've had to resort to simplification. My intentions are to select two horses in each race as bankers, and couple them with three others, to try and nail a trifecta. If no trifectas are used today at Sandown, then tricasts will have to do. But the preferred option, if we have a choice, is the trifecta. As my keyboard is in Decimal, all bets are in $. The maths are the same though. All bets are $1.

    Presumably Cyc "If any scratchings, topweight down." will be "ascending race card No order" as horses could be carrying the same weight.

    Good luck Cyc. Glad to see you have Lay Time in your bet. She's nicely bred, and although her name would indicate that some nice stallion has been lined up and waiting, I think she'll go close. Another 2 fur and I would have had her as a banker place.

    cyc your calculations are not correct to my calculations
    race 1) 5.9.(1.2.4.) $1.00 tri wheel costs $4
    so 6 combinations at $4. is $24 total per race,except race 3 which is $12

    Go to beyerspeedfigures and then go to triacta betting. Simplest way of explaining exoctic bets with a bet cost formular calculator
    $ 132 total out lay

    Cyc if you had bet the exact same horses in exacter boxes it would have cost you $112 and returned $138.80.Just over 20% profit
    Hope you had a little wager on the Canucks to beat Tonga

    Thanks Islander for the Bayerspeedfigures info. When I went to bed last night, things were not looking all that flash. The first two races were a wash out. I awoke to find the washout had turned into a flood of Biblical proportions.

    I don't understand that Islander. I thought 2 horses were locked in to 2 places with any one of the other 3 filling the other place. Each locked in bet is therefore 3 bets
    Eg Race 1. 5 and 9 locked into 1st and 2nd with any one from 1, 2 and 4 to fill 3rd. = 3 bets

    5 and 9 are then locked into 1st and 3rd, and 2nd and 3rd = 3 combinations
    Then also reversed 9 and 5 = another 3 combinations
    6 combinations at 3 bets per combination
    =18 bets

    Am I missing something?
