But both were young and room to developing. He's older, I'm questioning the developing. 27 and played out his career in lower leagues, non leagues. A good sign is that McCann obviously knows him far better than me and thinks he has something, so I'm happy to give him a chance, as long when he first cocks up, I have the licence to say 'I told to you so'.
Incidentally I have that same licence with Harry Maguire, when he started playing for England. I'm still waiting. And you know what, I'd love it if I never get the chance to say it!
Guess I'm rubbish at judging centre backs.

It shouldn't be forgotten that playing with better players often brings the best out of them. Harry Mcguire will admit that he learnt a lot from Curtis Davies & Michael Dawson, playing with them brought him on. Let's hope the same goes for Eaves.

He's one of those players that gets linked to higher clubs every transfer window. Most Posh fans will tell you he gets better year after year and he's currently playing some of the best football he's ever played. To get him for free is pretty good going, Sunderland and Portsmouth have been bidding for him in the past and it got well into seven figures.

Hopefully, he will get better service from out wide than he did in Div or 2, so better service means more goal scoring chances.

Grant McCann admits there has been interest in Hull City stars Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki and Markus Henriksen ahead of next month’s transfer deadline.

But with no firm bids tabled this summer City’s head coach is not giving up hope that his high-profile trio will remain at the KCOM Stadium
Bowen, Grosicki and Henriksen all started the Tigers’ 2-2 draw at Mansfield Town on Saturday, the latest pre-season friendly leading up to a new Championship campaign.

Bowen, City’s top scorer last season, netted the opening goal from a Grosicki assist, while the Poland international also struck a post in an entertaining contest at the One Call Stadium.

Henriksen also played 75 minutes, albeit without the captain’s armband, as McCann watched his side retain their unbeaten run through pre-season.

The opening weekend trip to Swansea is now only 12 days away and City’s head coach is still uncertain if Bowen, Grosicki and Henriksen will stay.

“I’d love them to be here,” said McCann. “They’ve all just had very good seasons but I’m a realist and I understand that it’s hard to keep players like that.

Stephen Kingsley hails 'exciting' brand of football to come for Hull City under Grant McCann
“But they’re here and I’ll continue to work hard with them. Come August 8 we’ll know where we are.

“I’m sure there’s interest. There’s not any bids that I know of but I know there’s interest in them. All I can do is work with them at the minute and see what happens.”

McCann worked alongside Bowen and Henriksen during the club’s warm-weather training camp in Marbella but Grosicki has only spent a week with City following an extended summer break.

“He’s lovely, really, really good,” said McCann. “Lively, a good personality and an excellent player. I’ve been really pleased with him.”

Grosicki came a matter of inches from marking his return to action with a goal but did cleverly set up Bowen to open the scoring midway through the first half.

That was Bowen’s first goal of pre-season and the winger’s performance showed glimpses of the talent that took him into last season’s EFL Team of the Year thanks to a 22-goal haul.

“He’s top class, he really is,” said McCann. “He’s special the way he drifts past people and he should’ve had another goal. The referee has missed a blatant penalty on him.

“I’m delighted to be working with him, Kamil, Markus and the rest of the group.”

I am surprised they have not already gone TBH.

Henrikson - not a massive loss in terms of talent really. Just another that will need replacing (which will no doubt be even lower quality as a free transfer).

Without a doubt. I wasnt questioning the better service, just the lack of senior strikers to learn from. Unless you are clashing Dicko as a mentor?
