Is the fuel the biggest pollutant? It is essentially water, Hydrogen and Oxygen. The white smoke is in fact steam, at least if you believe Brian Cox. .
Appreciate this is an old conversation, but that doesn't work. Unfortunately the first law of thermodynamics is against you. With a perfect system, the energy required to turn water into hydrogen and oxygen is equal to the energy output from combustion. In a real world situation, energy losses mean you can never even break even. More efficient ways to split water are being investigated, but storing hydrogen is also an issue.
seems like the cost of EV is going to go up, as there is starting to be a shortgae of the materials needed for the batteries, supply can't fit demand, and EV's don't even make a single percent of demand. Possible that phones, tablets and laptops will also see a small increase as they use the same tech. As batteries are the bulk of the cost, how much will an EV be worth as scrap in 5 years? might be worth investing in one, just for that.
Most of the worlds lithium comes from Portugal. Maybe in a post oil world the Americans will be parking their ships around the algarve.
Yes, you are right, it was Big Ern whose post followed yours. Must have been having a Boris moment, not checking the detail.
No worries Jazz! Anyone seen the teasers for a white Merc livery this weekend?! Hope they go with it, looks awesome.
It may be the intent going forward that I saw. It was one of those moon landing programs, with Brian Cox and Dara O'Briain showing the testing of the next generation rocket engines. Or maybe they were economical with the truth but I don't associate that with either of them.
My take on this , is that he is out https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/144996/wolff-bottas-future-to-be-decided-in-august
I think Bottas has failed to be consistent. Bottas 2.0 was way too short lived. Hamilton may not be about too long so merc need to look to the future. Give Ocon a go.
I believe that decision has not been made. I think Bottas has performed at a level that has made it more difficult to let him go. Reading the article I think the message is it was going to be Ocon next year but it is hard to now justify given Bottas performance this year. The weakness I see in Bottas is that when Lewis is in front, Bottas accepts it. Verstappen would challenge Lewis from day 1. The question mark is can he escape the contract he has and do Merc want to pay that much. I think the choice is thereby Bottas or Ocon. I think they will settle for Ocon, there are a number of teams who would take Bottas.
In reply to El abandoned and Just Jazz . I agree , I think he will be released , but who would take him ? I also have a gut feeling it will not be Ocon that gets the seat . No real reason , just a feeling.
