Nothing says City Of Culture like this. In fact it positively shouts it. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/love-island-final-hull-bar-3104295

I've always liked snooker and have played on and off over the years.... Me and my mate joined Clarence snooker club recently, but dont have our own cues.... We used some club ones and I battered him (at snooker, not literally!). On the way out he said "No ****ing wonder, look whos cue this is, ****ing Doug Mountjoy......" In fairness he was not the best.
Just seen that. My brother was a regular in the same pub as Alan Hull (The North Terrace) and I remember him telling me at the time that he'd given him directions on how to find the Centre Bar.
You mentioning the Centre Hotel, I was in there one evening meeting a customer of mine from Holland. Sat at the corner of the bar was a forlorn-looking individual no other than Tommy Cooper. He was well oiled and really did look a sad soul.
Or he told the doctor that he’d broken his arm in 2 places and the doctor had said don’t go to those places
"..... He was well oiled and really did look a sad soul" Are you exaggerating a little or was it really just like that?.
Pride has been good today Shame that Mel C pulled out at the last minute (shame for those that wanted to see her anyway) Good atmosphere in Queens Gardens
Mel C agent : " and then I've booked you a gig at Hull Pride on Saturday" Mel C: "Gtf, ring em and say I've got a sore throat and can't make it. What have I told you about booking me these out of the way low fee gigs on a w/end, ffs?"
Not exaggerating at all, I really felt sorry for him sitting there, looking as if he had all the world's troubles on his shoulders. It wasn't very long after that that he died, so maybe wasn't feeling all that great.
I was there with the kids. Great atmosphere and felt genuinely inclusive for a middle-aged bloke like me and hopefully the numerous people who didn't fit that description. I thought the very good-natured OB were great, visibly present but non intrusive and then kept a tight lid on the couple of absolutely ****faced mild fracas (is that the plural of fracas?) I saw just before and then during Alaska Thunderfuck 5000's potty-mouthed set at the end.
Aaah so that's what the Q is for, 'Quite Old'. We went only briefly as Mrs A wasn't feeling very well. Great atmosphere as you say, as per usual. We did stay in town and that atmosphere had spread all over. Seemed to be more families this year, which seems a great way to encourage inclusivity in the younger generations. What a different message to when we were young and people were actually jailed for being gay.
In bold, just to give a clue! Not the same when you have to explain a 'joke'. . "Are you exaggerating a little or was it really just like that?"
