Left, Right, Centre............Really ........is there such a thing?? I have never fully understood this term. Surely you're either a racist, a bigot or however you feel at the time. If a person from say Nigeria commits a crime is proved guilty serves his time and then is sent back to his country. Some would argue that because he is black we are being racist. How would you classify that person left, right or centre.......Sorry I get confused with these terms!!

 

The legal system should be colour blind. It’s not racist to punish a black person for committing a crime, it’s racist to treat them differently to a white person.

Right wingers share and disagree on a selection of political views, but the extreme right often (always?) supports a racist viewpoint.

It is possible for someone who is otherwise left or centre to be racist, but I would argue that you can’t be truly left and consciously racist in this day and age. However, it is possible to be politically left wing but unconsciously racist.

As an aside: There are more racist Tory MPs than racist Labour MPs which is what makes the current anti-Semitic witch hunt ridiculous. Corbyn grew up in a family that fought anti-semitism

 

I have just read a comment, from a political journalist, who has likened Theresa May handing over the reins to Boris, as being akin to leaving a floater in the toilet at number 10.

 

As you should, and as the vast majority and both sides do, its the fringe 1 or 2 % on both sides that shout the loudest and draw most attention

That’s one more point than I can see with Brexit.

 

Maybe it’s just me, but I find this hilarious.

 

So why call them the left if you mean a small minority of the left and why even say what you think they believe if you don’t want their views to draw most attention

They don’t necessarily shout that loud but they are amplified by the right wing press in order to undermine the moderate left by implying the left hold extreme views

 

Exactly this. It’s how the Tory government works, using the media to brainwash their readership into believing what the Tories want them to believe.
I am currently reading a book titled Crippled, by Frances Ryan, and it is quite harrowing.
The manner in which the government used the media to demonise people with disability, effectively labelling them as idle, work shy benefit cheats, is laid out in the book, along with many tales that will having the reader think WTF is being done here?
I strongly recommend that people read this book, ESPECIALLY those who vote for the Conservatives, and especially those who voted for the Tories in 2015 and 2017, when this assault on the disabled was already well established and documented, because this is being done in your name.

 

That's just the good side. The reality is truly abominable, morally and intellectually corrupt, let's hope for a swift end to his primacy and brexit. A general election ASAP bringing a government pledged to negotiating our staying in the EU and helping to bring about the necessary reforms in that institution. Perhaps to much to hope for but I'm looking forward to our next "brexit delay day party" and hoping for an end to the ongoing nightmare.

That special arrangement we have with the USA. We do as they ask, they do as they please.
And it will be even worse when Trump, aka The Lone Ranger, teams up with Buffoon Johnson, aka Tonto. Pleasingly ironic that tonto is also a Spanish word that means “fool/silly”. Very apt.

 

Boris it is then guys.....I think we are in for a few turmoil weeks...
