    I had a family member ask me about the canals and do they smell.

    I suppose they must do, but for whatever reason didn't on the day i went.

    Not been myself but eldest daughter went with her mum ... canals can smell a bit like drains now and again apparently... but otherwise a great experience ...

    Felt a sense of achievement today when i walked in 34 degrees heat to the top of Santuario di San Luca, 300 meters above the City of Bologna covering a distance of 3.8km and then the same distance in descent.

    Yup, pay 10 euros and you can catch a tourist tram up there. I see no satisfaction in that nor the point, as the walk is the challenge. Saw some poor sods on my descent when I'm about half way down, didn't have the heart to tell them they ain't going to make it but credit for trying.
