Hope this is true, be funny to see all the Spurs fans on social media (and some on this forum) that have been slating Eriksen and downplaying his importance suddenly praise him again.

There have only been two options on this :

    1. Stay (he signs a new contract)
    2. Sell (if he has any intention of trying to run his contract clock down to zero)

Anything else (sell to buy Lo Celso / NEW CM when there are no financial
    constraints etc) is just moronic.

    Llorente Watch
The Standard report that we have offered him a new one-year contract, albeit with lower wages

On the subject of re-signing players, the ICC seem to think we re-signed Kyle Walker

By all accounts, Eriksen seems very happy at the club. Yes, he said he wants a new challenge, but if in his mind there are only one or two clubs in world football who represent a 'new challenge' and neither of them see him as capable of joining that challenge (for a variety of reasons), he'd happily stay at Spurs for at least a few years longer.

Toby's level of play last season was admirable but suggested a man trying to put himself in the shop window after nearly but not leaving last summer. He has effectively wanted out for more than a year, but to his credit has remained professional and reasonable about the whole situation, has kept his head down and just gotten on with it.

I don't think the Roma links are dead in the water just yet. There is now a week to the day until Toby's release clause expires. The lack of interest is baffling. I think a lot hinges on Roma including Zaniolo in the deal as a cheaper but at the same time younger alternative to Lo Celso (although I think the latter plays in a more central role).

Jan will probably sign a year's extension and I really hope he does too. Love the man :emoticon-0152-heart

Watch him score the winner against us on the opening game of the season then celebrate by pointing you out in the crowd and laughing.

Just a heads up, you'll need to fully pay attention to this one...

El Confidencial report that Betis have a long-standing interest in Mariano Diaz, so Los Ladrones are lining up a bid where they sign Lo Celso for €40m + Diaz, and when that deal is done they will offer cash + Lo Celso for Eriksen

Yeah, one problem with that: under FIFA rules, a player cannot be registered with three seperate clubs in the same transfer window

As long as the club has not made an insultingly low wage offer, then
IMHO things are being conducted correctly (give him the opportunity
to find a suitor who may pay the wages he wants etc) .

Llorente does not strike me as a "pension mode" merc, so I feel he
will accept a new contract (in which case Pochettino better utilise him
    PROPERLY this season) .

Do you think his performances were beyond criticism in the last 6 months for one of our supposed best players?

Sorry mate and not trying to dig you out personally here as there's others that share your/ have a similar view but I think you've been watching him through blinkered specs if you think he was bad for 6 months. I'd say January through to March he had a genuinely bad spell, outside of that he was no worse than any other player on the pitch.

Our player of the season, Son, contributed towards 30 goals last season (20g, 10a), Eriksen, who was supposedly bad contributed towards just three less with 27 (10g, 17a) and it sounds like he was carrying an injury after Poch's comments this morning/ last night, similarly with Davies.

I think too many have used the disappointment of the fear of losing him as a reason to overly hate on - and unfairly criticise - him.

Dier Hard has typed above how I feel.

The fear of losing Eriksen has made fans hate and be overly critical of him when he’s still one of if not the most important player at Spurs.

I’ve never wanted him to leave, and if he does sign a new contract, great.

What I didn’t want was him hanging around waiting for Real while the window closes and he still hasn’t signed.

We saw exactly the same when Walker was leaving (although in fairness he was being a dick about it at the time, unlike Eriksen). Suddenly people were highlighting his shortcomings while talking up Trippier as some sort of saviour.

Bottom line is, Eriksen is comfortably within the top 5 players in the world in his position, too good to play for all but 3 or 4 teams on the planet outside of the PL (Real, Barca, Juve and Bayern). His greatest failing is actually not of his own making: he is chronically over-used every single season, playing in the region of 50 games a year for 5 years straight (plus every game for Denmark). That said, there is no doubt in my mind that fatigue (both mental and physical) play a role, and there is definitely a fear of picking up an injury, knowing that the overall creativity of the team plummets in his absence.

I hate to break it to everybody, but we have reached the point of the transfer window where the various papers, blogs and Twitter feeds are now arguing with one another in the hope that one of them ends up as being correct. Here's a few examples...

    Right Back Watch
Poch says he's happy with the squad he has (FootballDotLondon)
Foyth & KWP have a week to prove they have what it takes to be our RB this season, and if they fail somebody will be brought in (Daily Wail)
Spurs have dropped their interest in Dani Alves (Mundo Deportivo)

    Lo Celso Watch
Los Ladrones to offer cash + Diaz for Lo Celso before offering cash + Lo Celso for Eriksen (El Confidencial, presumably before they went on to say they'd also offer cash + Eriksen for Pogba, because why stop there?)
Spurs to offer cash + Lamela (Murdoch's Hate Comic)
Spurs to sign Lo Celso for £70m (The Mirror)
Betis waiting for the Lo Celso cash to sign Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias (Onda Cero)
Nabil Fekir's family are holding up his signing for Betis (L'Equipe)
Betis will annoucne Fekir once Lo Celso departs (Football Espana)
Bayern are weighing up a bid for Lo Celso as they feel the €40m release clause for Espanyol midfield Marc Roca is too high (Bild, who obviously weren't top of their Mathematikunterricht at school...)

    My head hurts...

Maybe Its just me then but when someone is the best or one of, then I expect more from them in the the big ones more so than those without that tag otherwise I'm left bewildered at the tag

If you think my reasoning is emotional (which it might be) and is therefore swayed by his departure...I think it would be fairer to say it's probably swayed more by his **** show in the final coupled with his skirt lifting in Madrid's direction at a time we were preparing for the biggest game of our lives. The fact that he came out and admitted wanting a new challenge a few days after does prove to me that he had one eye somewhere else. Maybe it's just me once again but I certainly was feeling that in his demeanor during games. That no doubt ticked me off and probably has made me have a 'fk you' attitude about Eriksen lately.

Let's hope he stops dreaming about Madrid and realises he's on a good thing here.

Let's hope that he asks himself the following question :

Why did Madrid buy Hazard this summer and not me, when even with peak Levying
I doubt they would have been paying as much to Spurs as they have to Chelsky ??

Along with Kane, he’s Spurs’ most consistent big game player and since he joined the club, no one in the Prem has bettered him for assists and chances created over the years and he’s always ranked amongst the best each season which shows his consistency, I’m not really sure what more you can expect from him.

Every Spurs player had a **** show in the CL final, Kane, Son, Eriksen, Alli etc so I’m not sure why you’re singling Eriksen out.

He’s merely said he’d be open to a new challenge. Unlike Bale and Modric, he’s not refused to train or play for Spurs and has even spoken of the possibility of extending his stay. I’d hardly call that skirt-lifting.

As Spurs fans we have to appreciate there’s a food chain and Real are at the very top. I can’t hate on a player for being open of a move to them, so long as they remain respectful to Spurs I’d wish them well if they left for a club like that.
