I’m looking forward to this, I think it will be a great tournament this year. Some firms are paying 10 places ew Skybet & Hills to name just two. I’ve gone for the two Justins, Rose and Thomas and I will probably do another couple before Thursday. Good luck with your bets fellas
Good luck Best bet for me is Top 20 Finish: Webb Simpson @ 11-4 [Betway] American plays well on the big stage
Always hard to go with C&D winners when hardly any of the field have played the course before, some did play the course back in 2012 for a European Tour event The Irish Open, and I a do like picking C&D form players when it comes to having a golfing bet. So, I've plumped for a few of them that are high in the stats for accuracy, always helps on links courses, and a couple who at the price I just felt, why the hell not when your getting 10 places from you crookie…!! Matt Wallace @ 40/1 - Ranks 28th for scrambling, 7th in putts GIR, 5th in making just the 1 putt per round, 9th in overall scoring... Rafa Cabrera Bello @ 45/1 - 2nd back in 2012, top 20 in the stats for stroke average, birdies made, putts per GIR, 1st in putts made per round, only 27.7... Matthew Fitzpatrick @ 55/1 - Ranks 8th for scrambling, 8th in putts GIR, 3rd overall in Stroke average to the field, 12th in driving accuracy... Li Hautong @ 80/1 - Playing really well at the moment, bit of an unknown but well worth following in the future... Paul Waring @ 250/1 - 10th back in 2012, top 20's in the stats for driving accuracy, GIR from approach shots & stroke average to the field... Of course, it all means nowt if they turn up and play like a bag of spanners...!! All done with PadPow, top 10 placed... Good luck to one and all...
I see David Duval is still flogging the guts out of his exemption. 2500/1. There should be a couple of extra 0s on that.
David Duval now there's a strange.'I'm world number one, do you know what I fancy changing my swing to make me even better'!
He wasn't the only one who went down that route. Faldo the only one to do it successfully in that period as I recall.
Martin Kaymer did the same damn thing just before the Masters... I suppose they are always messing about with their swings arnt they... Go and check Tom Watson out when it comes to a repetitive swing. Been doing the same swing since he was a pimpled nosed teenager...!!
I think the lack of terrestrial tv coverage is going to start affecting golf in this country soon. It’s even more of a minority sport than cricket so it’s future is bleak
I've picked 10. All e/w (10 pl) and 10 1st round leaders (6pl) McIlroy 8/1 Jon Rahm 14/1 Oosthuizen 45/1 Langasque 200/1 Rose 15/1 Molinari 25/1 Thomas 28/1 Speith 33/1 Fleetwood 25/1 Schauffele 22/1 Plus 1st Round leaders e/w Langasque 125/1 Oosthuizen 50/1 Schauffele 33/1 Molinari 35/1 Cantlay 35/1 Spieth 45/1 Mallace 50/1 Reed 70/1 Grace 90/1 Clarke 300/1
I have narrowed it down to about 15-20. Home Players: This could be a really great Open if RORY MCILROY does well. Hopefully he does and generates a great atmosphere on course. I think JUSTIN ROSE might be the forgotten player of this tournament. He is now at the peak of his career and I expect a strong challenge. At longer prices I would go for TYRELL HATTON, EDDIE PEPPERELL and the irishman SHANE LOWERY. US Players: You can't ignore BROOKS KOEPKA and I am sure he will be in the mix come Sunday. There seems to be a few people doubting TIGER WOODS this week. I am not one of them, I expect him to make the cut and be in contention. MATT KUCHAR also has a great chance. Others: The young french player ROMAIN LANGUERSQUE has started well and could have a big tournament. ADAM SCOTT has the ability to go close, and former champion LOUIS OOSTHUZIEN is in form.MARC LEISHMAN has a good Open record and could also have a good week. JON RAHM is in form and is a solid each way bet.
