Definitely wish Tripps all the best, had a poor season last year but been a good servant. He was never going to replace Walker, who left us at the top of his game as one of the best RBs in the game, but he had some great moments, particularly the Fulham freekick at the beginning of last season.
I’m seriously buzzing for him. I didn’t think Trippier would be able to leave Spurs for a better side but he’s managed it. Atleti are gonna be making a real push for La Liga this season, would love to see him succeed there. Yeah that Fulham free kick or his general elite level performances against Watford (they must be glad he’s gone ) were some highlights. At times he didn’t get the credit he deserved but unfortunately last season was so bad for him that I think he knew the best option was to leave as we’d be replacing him internally or externally.
Yep, best of luck to him. Always behaved professionally during his time with us. It’s an incredible opportunity for him to be living and working in Madrid. I’m just somewhat surprised that he’s ended up there!

I have to say it's a very ambitious move for him. Seldom few British players move to big clubs abroad, and when they do they tend to be attackers not defenders. He's a Burnley lad who probably doesn't speak a word of Spanish beyond the little he'll have picked up in training. I see this as a massive risk for his career as I honestly don't think he's good enough for them and also worry that - as a confidence player - all it will take is one run of bad form and his whole first season will go to pot. If he can cripple Diego Costa in training, he leaves with my blessing.
As I do not think Simeone is yet fully loco, one must assume he has seen something in Trippier that is suited to the Atletico game + will endure scrutiny of yer average La Liga opposition,

Must be so weird. I know we tend to look at modern day footballers as distant celebrities, hiding behind their Gucci shades and fence-ringed mansions, but the human element is still there: In the space of 12 hours, Trippier would have said goodbye to a group of people who have been his friends and colleagues for the best part of 4 years as they flew off to the other side of the world. Not too long later, here he is training with a group of players who he doesn't know and whose language he can't speak. Must screw with your mind something awful. It's like leaving your job, home, community and relocating without any real period of notice. Up n' gone.
For me, his problem (even in his much better seasons/games) has always been his lack of height, which makes him vulnerable to the ball over the top to a speedy winger, and reduces his contribution when defending corners. But always gave of his best, and battled against poor form. Good professional. Wish him well.
