Morning all. Taking the grandkids out for the day. So will be lively and.. Water is involved! Mme came in at the very death of the cricket last night.. Clearly there was no way I could explain what was going on.. She does not do cricket let alone a super over etc etc... So I just contented myself with telling her I had just seen one of the greatest ever cricket matches.. She was not amused as she had just returned from another day cleaning at mlles...
Morning all. Lovely morning with just a gentle breeze to keep the temperature under control. Normally Monday is a rest day in the Tour de France, but not this year, they have to wait until tomorrow.. Saint-Flour in the Cantal to Albi in the Tarn is the journey today on what is described as a flat stage, but it looks very bumpy to me. The hills in these parts are quite deceptive, being much longer and steeper I found when I have been out on my bike. There was a national competition a couple of years ago to win a very expensive racing cycle organised by one of the Tour sponsors. There were also second prize touring bikes to be won, and I was lucky enough to be the local winner. It is much better than my older one, but it doesn't get used that often. Enjoy your day whatever you do.
Albi was our local haunt in the Tarn. The Cathedral Sainte-Cecile and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum are the main must sees in the area. The golf course by the Tarn is excellent.
Morning all. There is a little hazy cloud above at present, but the sun is bright and warm. In the process of extending Mme's automatic watering system for her. It saves a lot of time and when we are away know that the plants are still getting the water they need. So far I have only drawn blood once when I rammed a screwdriver into my finger. Very careless. Must get on before I retreat to the shade this afternoon. Enjoy your day!
Hope you are all in fine fettle. One is well and México is treating my gringo ass decidely nicely. Popping in to see what is what and what is not. What is not on the signings front really. NEways, catch you soon!
Morning all. Already it is pretty warm outside, so a.m. jobs today. I had a great view of the lunar eclipse last night with a cloudless sky and no light pollution. The moon certainly went a very strange reddish colour. While it was not a full eclipse, about 80% I guess, it was quite striking. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.
Morning all.... a great evening last night seeing Graham Nash performing an evocative back catalogue of classic CSNY songs, a couple of Hollies classics and some more recent compositions. Great nostalgia with Marrakech Express, Teach your children, Our House, Military Madness, I used to be a King etc etc..
Morning all. Quite overcast this morning first thing, but already the sun is up, and there was no rain in those clouds. Going into town to meet some friends from the other side of the department for a light lunch down by the the river. At one time there were two settlements, one each side of the river with just a ford to link them, but a bridge was built in the 12th century for use in the winter when the water level rose. Today that bridge is still in use, but two much more modern ones have been built to take the traffic. The old town is a very relaxing place to meet up with friends, and a bite to eat with a cold beer is a good way to spend an hour or two while you watch the fish swimming by. Enjoy your day.
Well I had a very good day with friends in town, and while there we popped into the sous prefecture to find out what was required for Mme to renew her French driving licence. She exchanged her UK one after I did and has a nice credit card type one, whereas I have a the older paper version. I thought I knew that mine was a lifetime one, but checked nevertheless. The lady we saw, with a big smile on her face said that mine was not for life actually, it expires when I am 101. I hope to renew it.
