The summer transfer window for Premier League clubs will open on 16 May 2019, it has been announced. Clubs are permitted to agree deals for the acquisition of players prior to that date but, in the case of a domestic transfer, the paperwork cannot be processed until May 16. However, the transfer of players from overseas can only take place once the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) opens on June 11. This means that any international transfers can be agreed, but cannot be processed until the FIFA TMS transfer window opens.

As agreed by the clubs in November 2018, the Premier League summer transfer window will close at 17:00 BST on Thursday, August 8. However, clubs will still have the ability to sell or loan players to other leagues whose transfer windows are open after that date, such as to clubs in League One and Two, whose window will be open to 17:00 BST on September 2. The Football League has voted to mirror the closing date and time for the Premier League summer 2019 transfer window for clubs in the Championship only.

I wonder how the shortened window will affect things. I imagine the play off winners will have a very short time frame..

It's always been a problem for play-off winners. Many transfers are agreed in principle before the final.

I think this window will tell us more about the Pozzo's ambition.

No / a couple of squad players and they are just looking at midtableness and they are happy with just that.

Two great signings and then they are looking to push on more and really want to challenge.

A quote relevant to this thread:

"In year one in the Premier League, we had to bring in 10 to 15 players. That has now gone," said Duxbury. "Every summer we have a war cabinet. We re-evaluate the squad, where the weaknesses are, and look to address them. This summer we might bring in two or three players just to supplement what is already a very talented Premier League squad."

Before the cup final I watched a video with a Spanish journalist with pereyra, the venezuelan albino and Britos in it. Britos didn't seem to happy to have been left out a lot by Gollum.

And re gomez signing on, a club hero I know, but surely he should have gone and let a youngster step up. He won't get a better change than letting in 6 in a cup final as a better send off. Hopefully our new Brazilian starlet is going to be mentored by him as he helped little Richy rich a lot when he first came over. João better be coming over in Jan otherwise the same old up top this season makes me wonder.

Bit unkind - do you not like Gracia?

Britos was injured quite a bit and couldn't force his way back - like Prodl

We have a couple of younger goalies already - wonder if Dalberg will go out on loan.

I am glad he has stayed. This season we'll really see what he is made of. Can he push on with what he has?

Watford have signed former Manchester City midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru on a six year contract.

The Nigerian Under-20 international was picked up by the Hornets after his contract with the Citizens expired.

He made his senior debut with City in the Carabao Cup against Leicester City in December 2017 when he came off the bench to replace Phil Foden.
