Will he have more time to get his crosses in during yer average La Liga game ?? The number of times last season he received a pass that was : 1. slow + sideways 2. to his left foot (which meant he had to stop and check back) and thus provided no crosses whatsoever, infuriated me.
With them reportedly paying 100% of his wages You can probably hear the laughter from Madrid from here
Odd one this: Sky Sports are reporting that Atleti are offering us Angel Correa as part of the negotiations for Trippier If we had a buyer for Lamela this would seem like the perfect solution, as Correa's game has a lot in common based on skill, looking to attack the goal, workrate off the ball and (based on his yellow card count) general ****ehousery while he's also got more pace - however he's blown hot and cold during his time at Atleti, so it depends exactly what sort of deal Atleti are suggesting here
Does seem as though Rose is being left out of the Singapore squad for transfer related reasons. I think he'd be the most surprising departure this summer. Despite the fact he's had the odd tantrum and stupid interview, he has been a great servant to the club and it'll be a sad day should he definitely leave. This news also makes me revert back to the point I made the other day in that we may be looking to have a more solid back line this season. Davies signing the new deal and Foyth being played at RB towards the end of last season definitely hints at it in my opinion, especially as the links to potential new FBs haven't been anywhere near as concrete as those that we had with Ndombele or like we currently have with Lo Celso. I kind of like the fact there's uncertainty over our style/ formation next season, for the best part of five years under Poch we've generally played with a 4231 (with a little 5221 for one season) always with forward thinking FBs and for good as it's been, it's never been quite enough due to coming up short a number of times and so with hints to a 433 this coming season it's making me constantly guess how we'll approach it and what will be different.
Will be glad when Rose leaves...treated the fans appallingly. Have every sympathy with someone experiencing mental health difficulties and think the racist **** he has faced is appalling but both these things (and plenty of other **** experiences) happen to thousands (if not millions) of others but they do not act like **** nuggets. Hope he finds peace but want him gone.
Yeah his interview a couple years ago was a kick in the teeth, at the time I was ****ing seething but as with most things in football you can usually forgive stuff as time goes by (apart from that Judas ****), especially if a player plays well which he has. Ultimately he’s been a great player for us and he’s someone who seems to “get it” when it comes to playing for Spurs, especially in rival matches. I’ll have no problem calling him a legend once he hangs up he’s boots to be honest.
Like I said to Bob earlier, I think it’s because we’re selling abroad, there’s no English/ HG tax we can add to the value when selling to a fellow English club. Had an English side been in for him we could’ve probably chucked an extra £10m on the fee.
It's late and I'm tired and I'm starting to second guess and over think everything... If a team as big and as good as Atletico and a manager as defensively obsessive as Simone rate Trippier, have I been wrong about him all this time and should we be keeping him?
Lets really overthink it.....Poch isnt very good with fullbacks?? he hasnt really improved anything about Aurier...hes as haphazard as he has always been. Davies has always been Davies and Rose was always the marauding fullback he is today. Walker? im not sure his defensive reading of the game has ever improved....in Poch's defence with Walker.....hea generally just as thick at City.
In Poch I trust. Trippier has been good for us for the most part but if he is in decline, Poch will know and choose his moment to best replace him. Rose is the one I'd be more reluctant to let go of, but he too has reached a peak of sorts. My biggest concern is who comes in to replace these players. It's time for Pochettino to earn his money and demonstrate his ability to rebuild the team.
Personally i think if he is backed...he can build a superb team. He hasnt had the personell to play his system the way he wants to at its most efficient.
Trippier is a limited fullback, there is no question that he has had plenty good games for us, but he has had a number of poor ones too. Not the greatest defender and a bit slow for the way the game is going in the premier league. A better wing back than full back, he did have a great World Cup in 2018, but with another RB covering behind him. If I had to choose between him and Walker, then it would be Kyle every time, defensively not much too choose between them, crossing and set pieces Tripps win all day long, but Walker was (is) an astonishing athlete, and for me that gives him the edge, as he was able to recover from his mistakes better and gave us a constant presence down the right that would push opposing players back better than Tripps would. As for replacements I would love to think that we are genuinely trying to bring in Dani Alves, but its unlikely as he ticks very few of the boxes of a Spurs signing, so I think the replacements are already in place in Foyth and Walker-Peters.
The odd thing is that, at one point yesterday afternoon, Airier was trending on Twitter - not due to interest from another club, but because Spurs fans were saying he either should or shouldn't be first choice The thing that stood out for me is, after at least a year of Spurs fans saying KWP needs more opportunities, I didn't see any mentions of him at all
