Its fair to say we are more than covered in the engine room now. Feck knows wholl start the first game with Honeyman, Power, Robson, Leadbitter, Mcgeouch,Embleton, Mumba and ONien battling for 3 spots.

I honest thought Honeyman would leave this summer. Which 3 would everyone pick? Id go Robson...Leadbitter...ONien.

    Quite excited about Embleton potential.

Looks like he loves the ball and loves a shot, 2 things we are crying out for CM.

He’s done a full season at Grimsby so no reason to think he’s not able to step up one level.

2 or 3 must be going. We have far too many now to keep happy.

Mcgeouch off to Aberdeen methinks even after signing a contract. Leadbitter will be a bit part player ( worth it for his set pieces).

I just hope JR gets midfield right from the beginning. We do not him chopping n changing for the first 10 games or so.

In recent interview JR has said Mumba will be mainly with U23's but called into senior squad as and when required.

With the squad we have at the moment, 3/5/2 looks the way to go.

Only after the shields game I realised he may go 3-5-2 On which basis I reckon o'nien will be on the right. Therefore one less to choose from in middle.

I think there’s a player in Gooch personally.

I respect your opinion. For me he hasn't delivered, showed the odd flashes but waiting for him and Honeyman isn't the way forward, I've give up on them and would prefer bigger more consistent players. Lets revisit in 46 games.

Honeyman not in the 25 man squad for Portugal. Never seen anything regarding an injury. Anybody shed any light on this? Conspiracy theories welcome.

Oh I agree he hasn’t shown it consistently, he’s at his best when he drives straight at people but often he gives the ball too soon.

I think he’s shown enough to warrant staying, that’s not to see I’d be upset if he left for a fair fee.

He is one of the few we have that puts a dangerous ball in.

Inconsistent with us and a poor USA side, me and you would get a game for them at the mo.

The thing is, from that list, I don't see a single player who I think "yeah he should be starting week in week out", which is worrying. Ideally, they'd all be bit-part players. So in my opinion, we need one more at least in that position, someone proven in this league, who we know is going to grab games by the scruff of the neck and drive us forward. All those mentioned fall into two (undesirable) categories:

Little or no experience in League One: Robson, Embleton, Mumba, O'Nien (in CM)
Tested in League One and came up short: Honeyman, Power, Leadbitter, McGeouch

Admittedly, O'Nien seems to have a bit about him but I'm concerned that he did get a few run-outs in CM last season and was found wanting. I really, REALLY hope he comes good in that position as I like the lad.

To answer your question, as of right now, our best option has to be Honeyman, Power and Leadbitter - which is worrying as it's a downgrade from last year and, IMO, not good enough to get us promoted. If we don't sign anyone else we're relying on one of the kids to seamlessly adjusting to life in L1 which is a dangerous game to play, imo.

    Isn't it more like 3-4-2-1?
