If at the end of this window, we still have Eriksen (new deal too) and have signed a RB, a striker and another CM, I’d be ecstatic, that for me would’ve meant the perfect possible window for Spurs. If Eriksen goes and we bring in Lo Celso and/ or Ceballos, plus a RB and striker, that’s the second best scenario.
Lob another 20 mill in and get Dybala. I'd love to have Bale but all things considered I'd go for Dybala
If we're going to borrow any Los Ladrones players, we need to consider the long-term reasoning behind it At the risk of going a bit Football Manager, I see something like this Ceballos If the long-term plan is to sign Donny van de Beek, which won't be happening this summer due to the departure of de Jong but could be probable next summer, having Ceballos fill the role in the short-term makes a lot of sense while also sparing us the hassle of having a temporary solution we can't shift (i.e GKN) Bale If we remember that we're supposedly interested in Ryan Sessegnon, Bale on loan would both be a good player for him to shadow and also a useful buffer that allows Sessegnon to develop without the pressure to deliver immediately - and also tides over our HG quota Diaz This is a combination of the two previous options: the prolonged inability to move on Janssen demonstrates the issues with signing an understudy for Harry Kane if they don't work out, while also allowing us to develop Parrott into a player we hope he will be instead of potentially throwing him in at the deep end - two things which are alleviated if Diaz is part of the squad
Every squad player who is capable of playing 45 mins should be going. Even the "walking wounded" should be going, if only for PR reasons. Leaving "out of favour" players behind IMHO means Pochettino has learnt nothing from past seasons and has already failed this season before a ball is kicked in anger.
Depends if we have a reason to leave them behind Case in point, if the talk of Monterrey being interested in Janssen is true and talks between the two parties are scheduled, that's a good reason to leave Janssen behind as why fly him halfway around the world when he needs to to halfway around the world in the other direction?
High quality video conferencing ?? If things are at a stage where a buyer now wants a medical done locally, that is a different story (and even then, there is no facility in Singapore that is capable of performing all the medical tests that the buyer requires ?? ) .
The Trippier to Atletico rumours are really gathering pace now, apparently a £20m + £5m add-ons fee agreed, the player could even fly out today or tomorrow for a medical. As has been well documented on this forum, I've never been a fan and I think this - our first high-profile departure - could be a watershed moment this summer in getting other cogs moving. Seems like a thoroughly nice bloke though and at £3.5m was an absolute bargain, so if he does leave I wish him all the best at what is a huge club and therefore huge opportunity to redeem himself.
Trippier Watch We've upgraded from "rumours suggest that..." to people being willing to put their names to the idea of him moving to Atletico
Doubt it (transfer kitty, Dani Alves refusing to come because of Trippier etc) . "Seems like a thoroughly nice bloke though and at £3.5m was an absolute bargain, so if he does leave I wish him all the best at what is a huge club and therefore huge opportunity to redeem himself." He is one of those in the squad I wish we could guarantee their form would return to one of their better seasons this time around. If he is sold, it would indicate that Pochettino is not thinking the above, and is getting more ruthless.
Best of luck to Tripps, fought his corner when unnecessarily criticised but did have a terrible season last year and there’s a few FBs who now look considerably better. Hopefully rediscovers his 17/18 form at Atleti and tears it up out there.
Trippier's a much better player than we saw last season but there's precious few that doesn't apply to. Strange signing for Atletico, as he's a terrible defender. Oh well, who's coming in?
And indeed, the cogs are now well and truly whirring. Rumours that Rose will not be travelling with the squad tomorrow. Not clear if that is due to a fitness issue or a transfer but I'd imagine it's the latter and that a certain Sessegnon (or two) will be a Spurs player pretty soon. Twitter is going into meltdown, which is what it does best, but I am personally excited and intrigued to see how the next chapter will unfold.
Seems a bit on the low side for trips. Hes had a down season but his set piece ability alone is worth 25m!. Seriously though maguire is going for 75+, Dunks been quoted at 45 Hell even mings is even moving for 20+5 and hes cant even make the bournemouth defence!!!
It’s worth remembering though that we’re not selling him domestically so the HG/ English premium is wiped off. Besides, he’ll be 29 in a few months and we did only pay £3.5m for him so getting £25m after four solid years of service (minus one bad one!) is pretty decent. Edit: And to add, Trippier wouldn’t have left us for too many Prem sides and realistically none of the top six would’ve signed him. Utd was his only real possibility until they signed AWB so that closed that door. Wouldn’t make City, Pool or your XIs whilst he wouldn’t take such a backward step to join Arsenal.
Its not a bad price but you are right its not the English premium you would be getting selling within the English league. Was looking through transfers of defenders this window Hernandez 68m De ligt likely to be 65m Awb 50m Militao - 44m Mendy - 44m Hummels - 34m Manolas - 32m Mings - 26m Spinazzola - 26m I suppose you are right 25m for trips is around the right price
Yeah I’m happy with it. Had it been a domestic sale we probably could’ve gotten an extra £5m-£10m but I respect Tripps enough to want him to get a good move and Atleti is certainly that, so if that means us making less dough then so be it, been nothing but a top pro since coming in and last season aside has been very useful to have around.
You make a good point but none of those players are fully comparable for various reasons. Mings had a fantastic season on loan at Villa in the Championship, so B'mouth pretty much knew they'd pay a premium for him. Maguire has been one of the most highly-rated defenders out there for years and has improved consistently (unlike Trippier), also it is well-known that United are desperate and can afford to pay whatever you ask them for. The Dunk thing is ITK join-the-dots bollocks as far as I can tell. Leicester haven't made a formal bid yet so there is no way of knowing. And if they do, Brighton will know that they have £70m+ still cooling down in the vault from the Maguire sale. I also think there's a lot of substance to the rumours that all of Juve, Bayern and Napoli were genuinely interested in Trippier but were put off by our asking price. My feeling is that Poch wants to move on Sessegnon and Lo Celso as soon as possible, so will accept any semi-reasonable bids as and when they come in. The same will go for Rose, should he leave.
