Due to his contract being up next summer he has gone for a small fee of £750k (with clauses added into the deal) and takes 25k a week off our wage bill
Plenty of other leaked announcement photos online, all equally convincing so I'm not buying the idea of them being Photoshopped. There's also 2 reported sightings of a player entering Carrow Road yesterday with an agent, who would fit the description of Byram. Also talk of a 9am announcement, we'll see on that.
Great post #1540 Cromer re JR IMO, there’s a very good player in there, as was shown by his sporadic performances in yellow and green (who can forget his equaliser against Fulham, grabbing the ball and running back to the centre circle??) and he was invaluable on the bench. Life moves on however and I don’t see that we need him having signed Drmic and with Idah now in the squad. With SB having moved on, there may well be a place for him back at Hillsborough.
Sky and Michael Bailey also now reporting Byram. The deal has Webber written all over it. Byram is good backup, potentially excellent if Farke works his magic. Upon relegation, he's absolutely a strong enough RB for a promotion push.
Well that rumour went from 0-Complete in about 2 hours.... 4 year deal apparently. Slightly surprised at the length of that given his injury history. The £750k fee seems to be accurate too, for a player West Ham paid £4m for. Also worth mentioning he helps with homegrown requirements. Has some experience covering LB and in wide midfield roles, but never played DM or CB. https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2019/july/sam-byram-joins-norwich-city-on-four-year-deal/ Byram will wear the #3 shirt. He's already made it to Germany to join up with the squad for pre-season.
Wow!!! What a signing!! I love the player, rate him very highly. If it is as little as £700,000 odd. Amazing business. A young English player with high potential. Usually got for millions. Look at the RWB from Luton. Went to Leicester for about 7-9m!! I wanted us to sign him from Leeds years ago. Really happy with that business, and cane from nowhere again! Roberts and Bryan are two top English young prospects, that I’ve really wanted Norwich to go for, for a lot of seasons.

excellent signing! astonished that the club managed to keep that so quiet exactly the sort of player we need as back up and, probably, to replace max when he goes for mega£M
Brilliant news! At last we have another RB, homegrown as well, for a transfer fee not much more than a signing on fee. Great work by SW.
Let's just hope that Norwich signing Byram doesn't create unwanted interest in Aarons during the remainder of this window!
Was mentioned by DF that we will struggle at CB for the next few games. Lewis played CB in the last game to cover. Max LB and Bryan RB with Lewis CB could be an option to try.
I don't know what SB's bad knee injury was but I'm sure we would not be repeating the Jarvis mistake.
That would be a bit hard on Heise, who did well in his debut. Byram will need a bit of time to settle in, but should share the RB duties with Max. A West Ham view suggests that Byram's limited game time wasn't due to injuries: Byram has made just 17 Premier League starts for West Ham, and he spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest. Manuel Pellegrini has strong options in the right-back department, with Ryan Fredericks, Pablo Zabaleta and Ben Johnson all currently ahead of Byram in the pecking order.
Yeah, I wasn’t talking about starting the season. Just as an option during a friendly to get Byram some game time and fill our empty CB role.
Good to see that despite limited appearances for Forest last season, their fans really seem to rate him. Several comments on twitter about how well he played, and how disappointed they are to miss out.
Byram is already out in Germany and had this to say: “I watched a lot of them last season, with the fluid football and passing style, it’s obviously very attractive. Stuart Webber (sporting director) had explained where the club had come from when he joined two years ago and his plans going forward and how they’re really trying to develop things. He sold the club to me.” Nice one Stuart!
Injury track record is a bit worrying though. We have kinda been here before? Hopefully will have been fully checked out by the team before we committed.
