Steve Bruce resigns as Sheff Wed manager. Now...Not mentioned in the article. But they appointed him when they had no manager, and they had to wait for months while he went abroad to watch a load of cricket, then let him take over. That's not only a bit mad, but very understanding/lenient on him. Newcastle want talks with him, so he resigns. So Sheff Wed don't even get compensation? Is that right? If so, Jesus Christ. What a total D*ck move to a club that wanted you so much, they put up with your bullsh*t holiday plans and waited for you.
Absolutely atrocious from SB. I saw a rumour that Ashley is only paying him £1M a year, but with a hefty bonus for every place above 17th!!!
Sounds like a complete dick move from Bruce. I might be able to offer one defence of sorts: I presume you still get "tapping up" for managers, and therefore regardless of this, it means Wednesday are still entitled to compensation. This means the clubs can sort compensation whilst Bruce is the Newcastle manager, rather than stuck at Wednesday. Newcastle get their man sooner, and potentially Wednesday get a bigger payout due to the dubious way he left. Possibly has benefits for all parties, but it definitely leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Apparently Newcastle have offered £4M compensation to Wednesday. The attraction for Bruce is that Toon were his boyhood club, but if Ashley remains as owner, I believe Bruce will come to regret the move. Will I feel sorry for him? Not a chance, the two faced bugger!
Over his twenty years in management, he's managed to enrage rival fans by taking over at both Sheff Utd and Wednesday, Birmingham and Villa and now will p1ss off Slumdeland fans by holding talks with Ashley at the Toon.
I saw Bruce Out trending on twitter so I presume he got the Newcastle job lol. It's such a massive step backwards, from having a class manager like Rafa to Bruce, glad I'm not a Newcastle supporter, I would be absolutely livid. Good news for us though because now I can see them as bottom 3 contenders.
Can't believe this is real! Jesus Christ! This is either a strange joke, or this will have to be changed. Noone would buy this, and they can't wear it on the pitch! please log in to view this image
Also just read that 10 of the 20 PL sides have betting sponsors and incredibly 17 of the 24 Championship aides also have betting company sponsorship! That’s 61% of the top 2 divisions!
I had also read about that, which is what made me wonder if it was a wind up... What are they doing!? Since Stuart left, they have fell to bits!
This is our biggest sponsorship deal, and we are still second from bottom. We won the league, and even Sheffield United can attract more. Every single thing, just shows how hard we have to work to keep getting in the Premiership. Despite regularly getting there, still sides like Leeds think we a tiny and they are massive. Looks like sponsors also believe that total Bullsh*t.
Apologies if it's been posted previously - 'Huddersfield Town have been contacted by the Football Association about the large sponsors' logo the Championship side have said will feature on their kit for the 2019-20 season.' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49026053
